    Joyriding?

All I can say is if I bought an 03 cobra, I would kill whoever did this:

I can't get the forums.mustangworks to open. What did it say?

It finally opened. I would be contemplating homicide if someone did that to my car.

Here's the guy's post if it won't open for anyone else:

MAN IT WAS WAY COOL, DROVE A '03 COBRA VERT TODAY THAT WAS IN THE SHOP, ME AND ANOTHER TECH TOOK IT OUT AND DROVE IT, DROVE HER HARD, 6 SPEED TRANNY, WE HIT 140 MPH REAL QUICK, TALK ABOUT POWER. NOT THAT WE DO IT HERE ALL THE TIME, BUT I JUST HAD TO RUN IT, IT WAS CALLING MY NAME... THE POWER IT HAS IN UNREAL, YOU JUST NEED TO GET OUT AND TEST DRIVE ONE TODAY, BY THE WAY, THE CUSTOMER'S COMPLAINT WAS LACK OF POWER AND POOR GAS MILEAGE, WHAT A CROCK... NEEDLESS TO SAY, IT IS OWNED BY A FEMALE, SHE EVEN SAID IT WAS DYNOED AT A SHOP AND THEY TOLD HER THAT THE CONVERTORS WERE TOO HOT AND THE FUEL TRIM WAS WAY OFF. I HOOKED IT UP TO THE COMPUTER, FUEL TRIM WAS NORMAL, CAT TEMP WAS OK, NO CODES, AND IT RAN GREAT. GO FIGURE.. OH YEAH, SHE EVEN TOLD THE SERVICE WRITER TO MAKE SURE THAT NO "PUNK" DRIVES HER CAR, WELL SINCE I AM THE MUSTANG SPECIALIST HERE AT THE DEALER, I GUESS I AM "THE PUNK", ALL THE MORE TO DRIVE HER '03 COBRA VERT AND SEE WHAT ITS GOT.. HEHE HOPE SHE DIDNT HAVE A HIDDEN CAMERA IN THAT CAR...... GET THIS, HER PLATES SAY "XXXX XX"

    wow thats gotta suck

    pity it happens everywhere

my car was taken for a good flogging during a 12 hour period when i had to work late and left it overnight 120kms on the clock all for a roadworthy certificate i didnt realise it for a few days and nothing happened about it

a mate had a 308 torana in getting a roadworthy and he caught them doing donuts in it he got the roadworthy fopr free and a new set of tyres

got a friend that works as a mechanic he has ****ed so many things on cars thrashing them

its ****ed the only things that get done by mechanics are tyres

i have a great mechanic that works at the local parts shop and she is great had a few little problems that i couldnt work out and she fixed them and it cost me stuff all

    anyway thats my rant

    cheers

This is why I never leave my car at a shop, and do all the work myself. Though you need to realise that mechanics are "car people", but that is NO EXCUSE. If on the off chance I need to leave my car somewhere (alignment, major body work, new tires, etc.) I set the rev limiter to 2500. Just enough to move it around the lot. Quite frankly, this is done for THEIR protection. I would KILL without even a second thought someone who did that to my car.

I gotta move to Australia! Aussie chick who works on cars... mmmm....

Back to the OT. A friend of mine took his 02 WRX in for servicing. Needed to get the tires aligned and an oil change. Dropped it off. When he got it back there was 20 extra miles on it, and ALOT of fuel was used. When my carputer is finished, you bet I'm going to have a Driver Cam and a OBD recorder. Let me catch someone doing that to my STi.

i used to work for a city as a mechanic and when we have to take a squad car to get worked on, there are only 3 places we take them, there are STRICT rules setup, mileage is taken at the drop off point, and recorded when we leave. if there are excessive miles on it, there's hell to pay. Even when you work for the city you are usually required to be a full time person to drive them, but my boss trusts me enough. i think the reason for that is the assault rifle mounted above your head (which is taken out whenever it is sent outside for work)

That is why I only take my car to one shop,
    My Uncles Transmission shop.
Its like an hour a way from me, but its worth it. The mechanic gives me a good deal, cause he works for cash on Saturdays, I get mostly free stuff from the shop since its my uncles (Fluids, small parts, but not big stuff like a new motor or Tranny).
The Mechanic does stuff for insanely cheap prices, like putting in new seals for 170$ that would run me around 800$ at pepboys or somewhere else.
Plus, he teaches me how to do alot of stuff. He put in new engine seals (I was leaking antifreeze like a mofo) and taught me what he was doing the whole way, let me help him, and although I probably couldn't do it myself again, I can now do stuff like replace my alternator and stuff like that, because he showed me how all of it disconnects and unbolts (Freakin GMs are tricky).

And, I get to stay in the shop the whole time he is working. So no one beats my car, although I doubt that a Grand Prix is anything special that you would want to beat. I wish I had the 3.8 supercharged though.
