    Help me decide

I'm replacing my 1980s 25ish" Console TV. I'm looking for a tv with the min of the following features:

    Compenent Video In
    S-Video In
    Audio Outputs
    Price tag < $300

I think I have narrowed it down to two TVs, unless others find a better TV.

    Number One:
    Philips 27PS55S
    http://www.bestbuy.com/detail.asp?&b...1983&scat=2004

    Number Two:
    RCA F27650
    http://www.bestbuy.com/detail.asp?e=...cat=24&scat=27

    What do you guys think?

BTW: The Console TV is for sale, but I'm pretty sure shipping would not make it worth it.

    Past Experience!

In the past I have had a couple of different tvs and know of a lot of people that have simular screens. RCA have always sucked! I see that in the stores the picture quality is different from week to week depending on how many of the product they have in the back. One day an RCA will look picture perfect, skin tones will be amazing and the next week the will look like someone with a red spray paint can went wild. Yes Customers do mess with television settings in the showroom but it is a mandate that salespersons have to reset the screen multiple times a day.

I recently purchased a RCA 27" and it replaced a 20" Mag that was purchased in 95. The craftmenship was just bad. The coax connector in the back was broken when a cable installer put a new line to it. Inside the connector had two tiny sodder points and both broke. I sad hell with it at the time and had the guy wire it with svideo, worked perfectly untill it was time to hookup audio video cables to the tv for a vcr. I plugged in the video(yellow) to the left channel and when I went to replace it the metal sheeth came out.

I received a refund from RCA after many digital pics and a emails stating that the BBB will hear about this if nothing is done.

Now I have a 35" Phillips with all the goodies and only had to pay $100 more for it.

Get the Samsung instead. Better quality and picture than the other two, and in the same price range. I tell you, I'm starting to think Samsung might be better than Sony these days.

But the Samsung has only 520 lines... the RCA has 720, the Philips has 800.

I thought the larger the Horizontal Resolution the better.

I'm more concerned about quality. Given your small price range, it limits the choices you have. Just MHO. Might want to check out www.avsforum.com for some reviews. RCA's taken a beating there lately.

I just recently bought a tv for my girlfriend. Ive checked BB and CC and if the Phillips is the same one I was looking at while I was in the store, I think the tube / screen is very round, it bubbles out a lot, personally I like the screen to be flat as possible.
