That site and the guy who runs it is awesome. I was reading one of his stories and he actually got a carved wooden image of himself sent to him by a scammer. Oh the fun.

ok so thats kinda what i figured, as of now i have changed all my passwords and nothing fishy has happened. Thank you for confirming my suspicions.
Oh Brendan, wake up sir....not to dog you, but that first email you got immediately told me it was a scam. Sure "send first, then I'll pay you" is way to obvious.
If it smells fishy...it is.
Any transaction that involves ANYTHING odd, weird, difficult, or unusual is a scam. (IMHO)

i recieved the initial email from a monicakids23@gmail.com claiming she had a friend over seas who she wanted to send the laptop too.
the fake paypal email came from everifier@OfficeEmail.net
now see the best part is they had it spoofed to look like it was from service@paypal.com, also when in the email, it gives you links to click to bring you to your paypal account page, when clicked nothing happends, upon reading the source code for the email, you find added html to redirect the link to nothing, so for your average know-nothing computer user just trying to make money on craigslist you think your computer is just acting up, go ahead and send your valubles overseas.
also i was hesitant from the begining when they didnt wasnt to know any of the specs about the laptop and wanted to pay me 100 more than i was asking. i asked them to call me and they avoided the subject, finally after about 4 emails they gave me a local numer to call, when called it was an invalid number.
as soon as i recieved the fake paypal email a few things threw me off, and i knew right away, checked my actual paypal account and knew for sure..
so i did no reply and waited a day and recieved this email from the fake paypal subject was ****legal action taken on account****
Dear PayPal Customer,
It is important we know the status of the item bought otherwise, legal action may be taken against you since you have not replied to the confirmation of payment made to your account by our client Monica Milo over time and you have to be rest assured that this transaction has been successfully made and you are safe and protected. The money cannot be refund into the buyer's account.
We believed you entered into bidding agreement by requesting money through PayPal, and by non response to the payment confirmation made to your account you have violate the eBay and PayPal agreement. However the buyer has already contacted us in other to make report about your non response. We are ensuring to make PayPal a safer place, therefore we need to set confidence on our users.you have to complete this transaction properly in order for us not to AVOID and SUSPEND your PayPal account and it will also affect your PayPal account.
We request for the Scanned Receipt and the Tracking Number to prove postage of the item in less than 24hours and we will fund the money into your account or face the consequences of LEGAL ACTION.
This is done in other to protect both the seller and buyer.
PLEASE NOTE
If you have anything to say to these do not bother to call us,just mail us directly to our customer service

Anyone in this day and age that sends a shipment to Nigeria witout 100% certified funds in hand, deserves to be scammed. Nigeria and internet scams are synonyms.
I keep getting those ones that say my email account will be shut off if I don't send my name and password. LOL And still a spoof ebay login once in a while. Those are all from China.
As everyone else has pointed out this is a scam. I actually saw a pretty sad news piece on these scams where this old lady lost her entire retirement savings and is now almost completely bankrupt. Those we aren't internet savvy can def. be taken advantage of.
Just checking did you report this to PayPal directly. They should be able to do something about this and keep others from falling for this. Sorry they tried to scam you but good save.
