SPAM from forum sites (not this one)

This is not an issue here (thanks) but a different Forum I have only posted to a few times has added me to their news letter.

When I replied to the news letter to be removed it bounced back.

Who has thoughts on this? Seems bad to me.

Never, ever reply to spam. All that does is confirm your address is active and put you on a high priority spam list.

Check out SpamPal from http://www.spampal.org.uk . I have have been using it for a month, and it has worked nearly perfectly.

I am not registered at the other site. My email address is not public on this site.

I do not know how they found my address, but I will be reporting them to SPAM Cop and adding them to my personal SPAM filter.

For anyone that is interested check out Spamassassin (google search).

As skript kiddie as this will sound, i must say that SpamAssasin pwnz! We use it at our office (compiled on win32 ) in conjunction with some antivirus and filtering software for groupwise, and its filtering about 25% of our mail (correctly) as spam, which is most of it.

I have not used SpamAssassin, but I venture to say that SpamPal is significantly better. As I recall, SpamAssassin relies on rules and spam "signatures". SpamPal relies on the DNSBL (DNS BlackList) to filter spam based on it's source. Since I have been using it the last few months, it has made very few mistakes.

Spam assassin does use a scoring system, but also does rbl lookups, and can tie into razor.
