Good cheap DVD Player?
So while I love Home Entertainment Centers, and love wiring them up, I'm not up to date on who makes the good stuff and the like. My dad wants a good "cheap" (sub $100) DVD player for Christmas, and I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions as to quality and the types of connections availible (as I noticed on a lot of the cheap ones, they seem to skimp on the connection types).
helps if you gave us how you want to connect it... there are a lot of "nice" models now for around 100.
Heh, "Feature Rich" would have been a nice way to sum up all my ramblings. It'd be for my parents bedroom, which at the moment has a VCR via co-ax, as well as cable tv through said co-ax. The TV is fairly new, so I'd wager that S-Video would be the input of choice, and RCA to go into their stereo. But the more connections for any possible future upgrades the better :).
As crazy as this sounds I have heard a lot of good things about the Apex machines wal-mart sells. Compatibility with discs, region free, etc. As far as connections I am probably not much help in that area. Apex and also ebay search for 'Sampo'. They have some dirt cheap dvd player with quite a bit of capability as well.
I picked up an Apex AD-1200 at circuit city for peanuts.. the thing plays everything I throw at it. To the point where one could take a dump on a CDR and it would play the thing. Solid performance from a generic brand.
