Kinda cool, but I think it will be mainly in the toy and game area it will work.
Can't see it really progressing outside of that.
Maybe some spin off ideas might though
I watched this TED today - siftables from the MIT Media Lab.

it just helped open my mind to where computing is headed. I am sure the MIT lab has plans for some interesting practical spin offs..aside from toys.

The way they sense what they are near is very interesting. I think one thing our PC should do more of is be aware of where they are.
Not that I have any clue how to do that, of course. But awareness of where and what you are doing would be kind of cool. You know, stuff like IF you are at your place of work AND it is 4pm or later, THEN you are probably going to need traffic info and the quickest routing home.

Well that's a simple thing that has already been done as a plugin for RoadRunner. (sort of)![]()
Its really awesome to see technology advance so much but i have only one question about the affordability.
Right - sort of. You have to know what you want to know and can program it into RR. Which is cool, and a great first step.
I'm looking forward to even rudimentary awareness of things one might want to know as you drive - a recently reported accident or auto-update of Facebook based on situation (at mall, getting gas, stuck in traffic, on the way home, for example), or reports of current speed traps and your proximity to them.

Funny you should mention Facebook, someone on the UK site (won't mention the name) is looking for someone to interface to the Twitter SDK, although he has found you can run a CMD line to it.

OK, Heather... I feel compelled to call you out here.
First of all, you now work in this industry. AS such you should at least have an idea about what is possible with the products you sell and support.
Second of all, the last I understood, you didn't even own a car, but used public transportation in the Baltimore/DC area. Or has that circumstance changed recently?
