I would advise getting a used one. First off the sony support is awesome. You just need to know how to work with them. I bought my bro's old ps2 cause he dropped it and he didnt want to pay $180 to repair it. So I bought it for $50. I called up sony and said it just stopped working. I gave them a guilt trip, because it was way out of warranty. I said "I have bought sony electronics all of my life and I have noticed recently the quality has gone downhill". I also said "It is ridiculous for a game console to break after 2years with an owner that takes good care of it." Well technically thats true because I take care of it. My brothers the one that dropped it.So technically your ps2 could have a lifetime warranty.
