My friend had a Viper shipped from up north to FL. and I think it was $750.
Don't think because it was a Viper they took any better care of it because they didn't. My friend was ****ed, needless to say...
Alright, so i MIGHT be getting a couple old cars from someone in Florida. I live in the Chicago suburbs... see, its in my profile...
anyway. i could probably go and pick it up if it was only one car, but since it is two... i cant. the cars im looking at are 2 old datsuns, pretty small and light.
has anyone here ever used one of the many shipping companies around the country?
how much would it cost to ship 2 cars from ft lauderdale to chicago? rough estimates ok, since i really have no idea right now.
if this turns out to be too much, i would like to find out before i commit to anything. i know the best way would be to call and ask the transport companies, but im just testing the waters right now. plus i have no idea if im going to go through with the sale.

Yeah it's really a hit and miss with some of these companies. he lowest I've seen was about $400-500 across a few states. I've also heard my share of stories (broken side mirrors, cracked skirts, etc). Then you play the game where they say that the damage was done BEFORE they loaded the vehicle...
Hmm take your time if you're gonna go through with this.

ouch... those are a bit higher than expected...
i did check into renting a single car hauler trailer from a U-Haul type place. they quoted me 175 if i pick it up in florida and drive back to chicago. 2 days to drive there, 2 days to drive back... but with only one car...
perhaps all i need is one more car...
thanks guys.

Do you really need both in 'complete' condition? You could rent a flatbed from uhaul, put one car on the bed and strip the second to only what you need.
But yeah, it's still expensive.
