It looks like the android is going to be capable of total control. SMS, Phone control, contact lists... the further I go the more I find that I can do :-D

GPS, FM Radio, DVB-T (on Archos 5), WIFI, Bluetooth, 3G...

I am very happy with my Archos 5 Android which is not a phone but more of a PC tablet.

Now I am looking for a 3G Mobile based on Windows Mobile with Wifi Access Point Software to connect Archos 5 via Wifi to Mobile Phone (eaiser and more stable than Bluetooth teethering) and 3G to provider to have constant Google Map/Street View streaming with $20 monthly data plan.

    +Internet radio, Web TV ..

Um... yeah but we're not talking about the Archos, we're talking about the Motorola Droid. :P

I dont think it takes much to beat an iphone. Yeah they look nice, but other than that utterly useless.

The droid does looks nice. I am happy with my htc touch pro, but one of my friends got one and it is definitely slick.

Only problem is most that buy the iphone dont know about other options, so they wont even know what the droid is. The commercials I have seen, I didnt even know it was for a phone. So once again, Apple wins in marketing.

I cant seem to find anything about it's connectivity with Blue tooth..I want to use it with Blue Solieil software for the .net phone app for rr. My current LG voyager is useless for it and works with nothing.

It's pretty much compatible with the most bluetooth profiles out of any phone... but I have no idea if Blue Solieil works with it or not. Unfortunately there is no decent bluetooth software stack on linux, so I'm forced to write my own control application.

It takes alot to beat an Iphone it seems you don't have one and if you do you don't know what you can do with it. My wife has the Droid and it is the best competition to the Iphone but for now it's the Iphone I don't have to explain it if you need to do something there's an app for that.

All my task can be done from the Iphone all unlike most devices.

http://xkcd.com/662/ About sums up my opinion of the matter.

I looked a bit into the programming environment for the iphone, and was immediately struck at how closed and locked down it is. You do what apple wants you to do, and nothing more. The Droid on the other hand, is fairly open, as proven by the fact that I have complete control over the telephony and sms classes inside.

Don't get me wrong... this also opens the door for applications with malicious intent. I could easily write an app to disable phone calls, or lock you out of your phone. Of course it's in the list of permissions you give it when you install it... but how many people actually read those?

Your correct and it has already been done there is a I wouldn't call it a virus but there is a program attacking android phones google is working on it.

But see that is the problem you have written a program but you are the only one using it because you made it for your use. the Ipohone community is a share community people believe there are 80,000 apps there are way more than that once you jailbreak then all the so called things the Iphone can't do it does.

Don't get me wrong I own 2 phones a Mytouch 3g and a Iphone but for right now my Iphone is way more usefull. As an example my Iphone has 5 seperate extensions that means which ever app I choose to use a different number comes up on your caller id. I put a carpc in my siters car she didn't want to buy a seperate monitor so I used the one she had in there all controlled by her Iphone something at this time couldn't be done with the android system as of yet.

Everyone has a different need or want in a mobile phone android is a great system believe me it's way better then winmobile, webos, and all others except for the Iphone system maybe in the future but not now. The users make the Iphone what it is not Apple.

The following and development it has by the users have become unrivaled but android is catching up, there is nothong I can't do with my Iphone I have no restictions.

There is even a user on this forum (can't remeber his name) but instead of a carpc he had his Iphone custom modded into his dash. Like I said Android is coming into itself just not yet needs way more work.

Then stick with the iphone if that works for you... why post about it in a topic about the Droid? I don't think it warrants any further discussion. You are more than welcome to open another topic about iphone vs Droid if you wish.
