cool what you gonna put on it?
Is what i said to myself after i stripped all the padding out of my goal mask. I never been much of a diy guy but looking at my plain black mask something inside of me said im sure if you wanted to you could paint this. My mask is a 93 badger elite. When i first started playing goal this model mask was the first real piece of equipment i ever owned. Sadly my original mask has taken far to many shots and the cage and mask is no longer usable.
I searched for years for a replacement via ebay and craigslist but anytime they popped up they went for crazy amounts since the company went under over 9 years ago. One day while at the rink i found this mask in the extra equipment room so i asked someone and they said i could have it free of charge. The mask itself was in pretty bad shape. It came with a full cage, bars bent and rusted to hell. I had a friend who had an extra badger cage and now my project can begin.
I am no artist and i plan on keeping the design very simple. I took a trip to lowes today and picked up some spray paint for plastic and some 400 grit sandpaper. The choice of what paint to buy was quite tricky but since the mask is made of abs plastic i might have better luck with the plastic paint. I spent most of the night sanding away. Tomorrow i hope to get the first coat of paint on. If anyone has any suggestions on how to paint plastic let me know.
