can i get permission to post a laptop for sale ?
seems like would make a decent car computer.
or have i been upgraded now that i agreed to the policy etc.?
I've tried to find a moderator online with no success. If a moderator reads this, could you please enable the permission so that I can post to the Classified section of the forums. Thank you!

You need a minimum number of posts before you can post in classifieds.
The number is not disclosed to prevent people post rubbish posts to build up their post tally just to post in the classifieds.

What keeps someone from just posting 'junk' posts until they can post in the classified section? Seems silly to me. There is a lot of information already available on the site - the "unknown" post amount somehow seems more likely to encourage people to post anything just to boost their numbers so they can reach that magic number - whatever that is. All that does is junk up threads and make searching much more painful. To me, it would make more sense to let 'low post' members to post to the classifieds, but not allow the post to go live until a mod checks the proposed classified and then (again - at a moderator's discretion) either reply to the buyer/seller with guidance to make the post appropriate, make the post live, or deny the post (hopefully with a good reason)
My bet is most folks like having content in the classified section as you never know what you may want or need... and as long as what is offered appears to be appropriate to a carputer why keep potential buyers from this treasure?
I use several other forums where I have been a contributing member for years - I find that the classified section there is a nice bonus... and I can pick who I want to buy from or sell to (I make that call - does the member have a good reputation? Are they 'new'? Do I really want that trinket? you get my drift... same goes for me selling something... it is MY choice to sell or not... buyer and seller beware... reputation is everything)
So - it just seems kinda silly to have minimum post requirements (even with 'unknown' minimum post number requirements) when some folks just read forums and only post on rare occasions... when they actually have something worthwhile to contribute. Someone who has been a member for years but with few posts would still not be able to sell using this (IMHO) flawed criteria.
And I put myself in that category (few posts here as I am 'learning' the carputer world and not a carputer 'expert' therefore do not have much to offer... but I do have tons of hardware bits sitting around I might part with to fellow forum members - but, alas, I can't... like many others. Instead I give most of it to friends, co-workers, etc.. who (like me) are always building PC's and tearing them down... as well as repairing non tech friends PC's.)
I suppose this counts as a 'junk' post (at least I consider it one... this post does not help anyone build a carputer in any way whatsoever...)
Anyway... time to read more posts, and use the 'search' function...
If someone keeps posting junk, that will get spotted and either moved to off topic (where posts don't count) or more likely deleted and the user warned.
Some of the reasons for this procedure are
to stop somone just coming to the board to sell their 'wares'
give users the chance to look at how the seller has contributed and jusge whether they are reliable (I know posts quality doesn't guarantee a sellers repute, but it can contribute)
This rule was introduced many years ago because we did get people just coming here to sell their stuff and not contributing to the hobby. So it's not in there for fun to annoy the newbies.
And at the end of the day, the site is owned by MP3Car, so it's their house, their rules.
Fair enough - I still think it probably keeps some people from sharing wares that others here would benefit from. I do think that it may be hard for someone who is 'new' to the fabrication side of things from contributing as (for the most part) if you search ye will find most of what you need... after all lots of projects = been there, done that...

Well that's kind of lame... had I known that I would have been posting on here before so that I could use the classified forums... Oh well. I guess I'll have to browse around and post on peoples' topics...
I think that if you've been a member of the forum for four years, you should at least get the benefit of the doubt to post to the classifieds.
20 posts and I still don't have permission. I guess I'll try for 25 tomorrow.
