    carputer based on rk3288 chipset

so i wanna build a carputer based on a rk3288 board. seems simple but maybe not to much? for one, how would i use the touch screen with it, hdmi, such as this screen but its touch screen interface is USB, will the android os be able to use this touch screen?

also, i wish to use something like the x3io carputer shell\screen or the Derrick resistive screen. now I don';t understand the whole deal with them, seems very confusing to me, you can turn a resistive screen to a capative screen? idk, the tech i talked to from 3eio got me all confused. so, I'm just looking for input on my concept.

or perhaps a way to take an android based deck and gut it and put in the newer board, since this pumpkin KD-C1506 runs with the Rockchip 3066 chipset it should be pretty simple, and these units are very easily rootable and custamizable xda has a whole thread on it. or i gut it and put in an rk3288 of my choosing, but than i need to program it for the hot keys and the such....so not quite sure how to achieve this

Just remember, the LCD screen is just for viewing video.

They stick a transparent overlay on top of the LCD, which can be either Resistive, Capacitive, or other sensing technology on top of the screen to make what the call a "Touchscreen" It is a separate electronic device that the video screen itself, usually requiting connection to a USB or COM port, where the video needs to be connected to a video source connector on your computer.

So when you connect your screen to the rk3288 board, you will need one USB for the touchscreen, and an HDMI port for the graphics. The graphics will be supported easily but you may need a driver for the touchscreen, so you will have to find or compile a kernel that supports mouse or touch panel.

Wow dude, you need a serious reboot... Sure this is a carputer community but what your talking about is really specialized. You are discussing hacking android systems and changing out hardware. This site is not a specialized site for hacking hardware
(See http://www.xda-developers.com for that with android..)

You are looking to do stuff no one else is playing with. It has been a whole two weeks since you started this thread...
So if you are that much into it and no one says anything you can look elsewhere to find people that have played with it or figure no one else is and have at it. You are using equipment that is expensive to just pick up and not many people are going to just throw stuff around like that. By Having an attitude though you are likely to just have chased anyone off that might be here that hasn't seen your thread previously that might have considered something similar.

Besides all these gizmo's like rpI, audrino, android, android tablets are all just toys someone thinks they will make a good cheap computer. This forum is about what you are doing but if no one answers then maybe you are the start of it. I personally like having a full fledged computer in my truck, no need to root, hack, hope that it works stuff. But don't get ****ed off at the forum if you don't get what you want. If you do proceed please make a work log so others can see your work and maybe then you will generate interest. Good luck SNO
