the evo isnt easier to drive, its a very challenging car. if you think it's easy to drive you'll proably find yourself upside down pretty quick.
the Z is not light, it is average. 3,170lbs.
and yeah its got untapped potential, as long as you are willing to completely rebuild the motor to make it suitable for boost, which, in it's stock state, it is not.
a Z modded to it's handling limit will never outhandle an EVO modded to it's handling limit.
I'm not saying either car is bad, but just admit the limitations. Any car can be modded to a certain extent but there are still some platforms that are superior, like the subaru impreza chassis.

Um the stock internals are plenty strong enough to handle the modest boost of a procharger at an average of 350-375rwhp. Now if yoru talking about boosting past 400rwhp then yes it's a good idea to redo the engine internals on the Z.

As for the weight 3100 isn't to bad though it is a bit heavy I can't seem to find the weight of the WRX on the website but I was just imagining being a sedan it's goign to weigh in more but I could be wrong about that.

As for the handling yes all things being equal evo should handle better but the truth is being able to drift can really give a huge advantage in saloom or twisties. Drifting in a AWD car isn't really possible.

As for the WRX chasis being superior why do you say that? I'm quite curious.]

    hijacking my own thread

I was at customtacos.com and saw this guy with S-runner SC running mid-high 14's. I also saw a video of his run and noticed that his tailgate was up but no bed cover. I emailed him asking him why he didnt put the tailgate down. He replied that letting the tailgate down at high speed creates a vacum where the cab and the bed meets and slows down the truck. He had several slower runs with the tailgate down and acheived the mid-high 14's run with the tailgate up. Is this true? I always thought driving with the tailgate down reduces wind restrictions and allows for faster acceleration.

The evo is easier to drive though. Faster straight line speed but well the interior isn't my cup of tea and well I'm at a point in my life where I want a sports car not a sedan. Truthfully if I went sedan I would go with an Acura TL or better yet probably just a Maxima.

I'm not saying the STI and EVO aren't nice cars but just they aren't for me.
dragging the good ole sub back into this.

A car mag i had - shootoff for upgradabilty of cars.
    They had
    an Evo
    a STi
    a Nissan GTR

They bought the cars then modified them. Spent a modest sum on doing them up, then compared them.
Straight line - GTR, EVO, STi
    Twisty stuff - EVO,STi,GTR
So the EVO came out over the STi both times.

However, in the 20 quickest cars under 100k new, in the DRIVER magazine
6 were subaru's (the most for one make)
    The one evo
The STi was above the EVO

    Another point.
    Centre of gravity/efficiency
The mitsi has a transverse/EW Inline four
    The sub has the boxter-longitudinal/NS
Shouldnt the sub have better handling bcoz of the low centre of gravity....
wont the evo hav bigger losses because the drivetrain has to be rotated (if u get my meaning)-twice for the backwheels?

So make ur mind up about that. (adding more fuel to the fire )

Will edit with actual data as soon as i can find the magazines.

Ok drift in an AWD car. And then drift in a RWD car which do you think will drift far better? I shoudln't of said you can never do it but no where near as well as any RWD car.

Magazine racing is bad though very rarely are the magazines really accurate when it comes to racing.
