Can't get GTA3 to work with USB-PSX controller ada[ter
Hi, this topic is quite erm, off-topic, and hope someone can help, so here we go....
I've got a Kiky X-series USB playstation gamepad adaptor and for some reason Grand Theft Auto 3 won't work with it. In Device Manager/Human Interface Devices, I have "HID-compliant game controller" AND "USB Human Interface Device" listed. As it stands, GTA3 initializes with a splash screen but won't start up. When this happens and I shut down, only then would I get a prompt stating that "GTA3 is not responding". In Control Panel/Gaming Options, the controller is listed as the only device and I can calibrate the buttons etc so the device seems to be working properly.
If I disable "HID-compliant game controller" in Device Manager, the game will start, but then no controller is listed under Control Panel/Gaming Options.
If I unplug the USB cable from the port, then start the game and plug it back in, the controller is still not recognised by the game.
I'm not sure what's wrong here- I've had this game for what must be nearly two years now and I'm sick of using the keyboard as I can't get anywhere on it!!
I'm using windows 2000 if that helps, and I also had the same problem under windows xp (same game). I gave the adapter to my brother and he managed to get it working fine under windows Me with a different game, so I don't think the game pad controller/adapter is the problem.
Someone help please!!!
the game pad adapter may only work properly under win9x OS
XP has a win98 emulation mode, you could try that.
Like I said, I'm using Windows 2000.... and the adapter's compatible with all windows OS's. The gamepad is recognised by windows, but seems to conflict with Grand Theft Auto 3
Surely someone can help!! I actually paid money for this game.... so I'm determined to complete it.....
Ok, sorted now- it was a driver problem, all fixed with an update
Hate to bring back up a 3 year old thread here, but im having the same problems with my kiky adapter. Any links to a working updated driver?
Holy thread revival batman!!
My impressions of kiky are that they're ok, but the up/down functions were inverted and it ****ed me right off before I sold the thing on ebay
So whats the word on the driver u got to work, i just tryed an updated driver and still the same frozen startup screen on all games
No idea man - try the kiky site...? I'm sure that's what I did - too long ago to remember now....
at radio shack they have USB psx joustick adaptors for $9
or they did the last time I was there - I have one ,they work
another thing to try is a freeware program called "Joystick Cursor Tool"
it maps every thing from the joy stick to keyboard buttons, works great
for games that will not use a joystick
I have used it for years - works good, here is the web site
