Just another idea....I think theres a software that even record automatically when it sees a moving image. Check google for motion detector.

i know nothing about electronics but here is what i think. ok you have something (the motion detector) that turns on the lights and you have it hooked up so it turns on and supplys power to your camera as well. well cant you just use the same power source that is givin to the camera and use that for the vcr. you may have to run a few wires but that would seem easy enough. like i said i dont know much about electronics. so the motion detector switch, switches on the lights, camera and vcr. lights camera action.... ? let me know something.

Yes but you still need to send a "record" signal to the VCR/PVR.

Unless its possible to record automatically once a power is applied to it. But if hes using a PC then the PC must be on anyway.

would it be possible to short out the rec. switch like some are trying on the lillputs. so when power is supplied the record switch is closed so its power/record.

Its possible...but you cant expect this to work for all VCR. You can have different results.

    Try it

Superslacker method would be to get a really old VCR (with real buttons) and just hook it up to a relay along with the camera.

I like the idea of using a linux PVR. Better quality and easier to view recordings.

I'm rebuilding an old computer now and hopefully will have it all up and running in a couple of days. I may even add a page to my website that documents it.

Screw the camera. Have the light activate an alarm in your room and head out with the baseball bat when it goes off.
