Any probs with subs in trunk?

Hey guys,

Not too long ago, i went out and got an amp + box + two 10's (10's were free, still going to replace them soon).... i wired everything, and pretty much tossed the box in the trunk. I mean, with the trunk open, it's putting out really well, but it never seems like i'm getting it all in the cabs. There is also a spare tire + metal between the trunk & cab... and it's an auto-latch trunk (barely shut it, motor closes it).... Am I going to need to cut anything to get my optimal bass?

What style box is it? Sealed? Ported? Bandpass? The best box for a sealed trunk application is Bandpass as it pumps out more air (bass). Another thing to do is to get some noise killer in a spray can, take out your carpetting and spray that **** all over the trunk until its sealed, leaving only the wall to the cab not coated, this will essentially force all the bass to the cab, and will also deter rattles within your cars body... I have found that Dynomat products work the best since that is what they are designed for. I have seen people cut holes in the rear hatch area or sometimes even in the rear seat, but I've never done that and don't think it looks all that nice. You may wan't to find a different place for that spare tire... I am new to the CarPC world, but I have a ton of experience with Car Audio.

You have tons of experience and you're recommending a Bandpass box!!!

Yeah, bandpass is great if all you listen to is crap, I mean rap and don't actually want your stuff to sound like music...

Coulnt agree more, I want to hear my music not let everbody near me hear AND feel it also. But thats just me, to eaches own I say.

Yeah, don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong (most of the time) with loud music, just make sure it is music, not some crap that is distorted when its above or below the tuned frequency... lol

dynamat is too expensive. use another brand like brown bread... works the same, but cheaper.
