Sure! Haven't you ever been frustrated with the people who work at the local electronics shop? If you've built a car computer you've got a leg up on most of them!

Don't underestimate yourself. If Fry's is looking for more than you have, start with some place like Circuit City or, if you must, Radio Shack. And don't bull****. You don't want to work for somebody who doesn't want to hire you based on who you are and what you know (and can learn).

to date I have no certifications or degrees, and I've worked for three companies (err, that includes my current college...) doing IT stuff (changes due to working arround school, not performance). Like divideoverflow says, if you'e built a car computer you've got a leg up on most of them. Even if you've only researched it a lot, you've probably got a leg up on them. The valuable experience comes from mucking with stuff in your spare time. No need to be a bull**** artist for that.

If anything, make sure to follow the interviewer home and take a photo of his family. You can show it to him next time you talk, and he'll be a lot more willing to hire you.

Are you kidding. This is Frys Electronics were talking about right. Just from the info you have gained on this sight then you already know more than 3/4 of the people that work in the computer department and mobile audio department at the Frys here in Phoenix.

Don't BS prospective employers. That will only get you in trouble once you get hired. Be yourself. If they don't want you for who you are then you don't need them. You'll find something. Looking for a job is a job in itself.

just try to bull **** I got my first stereo job by bull ****ing on my first day as a stereo installer I had only wired 3-4 stereos and amp's in my life and knew nothing about what I was doing by the end of my second day I had the job in the bag I just bull ****ed my way in and figured out how to do the job after I got hired 10 years latter I am regaurded as one of the best installers out there

and as a manager I can tell you that I am am going to hire someone that shows they realy want the job over someone that dosn't even if I can see through the bull **** as long as they want it I will teach them how to do the job if I have to

pick somthing you know a little about stereo or computer retail install whatever put in a app and bull**** till they think you can do it even if they know you can't your letting them know that you will try your best to learn to do the job the real trick to getting a job that don't require a degree is to show you want it that's it don't quit if the first guy second third ect says no keep trying let the next guy know you have been applying at other places again let them know you want it or you will end up at mc donalds
