    Discuss Driving at SafeDrivingTips.co.uk

I have set up a stylish forum where I have posted what I think to be some of the most important (and not obvious) tips for pro-active safe driving. Come along and discuss them, add your own tips, and discuss other areas of the art of driving. There is also a forum where people can discuss advanced driving techniques such as evasive and defensive driving, J-Turns etc.

Although the site is a co.uk domain it is a totally international site and I encourage feedback and adapted tips relevant to different countries etc.

Registration is NOT required to post and reply, just come along and post!

I know this looks like I am using this board to advertise but I'm not advertising any product or anything, just a forum, that I think people might be interested in. I am really interested in setting up an online community. Driving is always something I have wanted to discuss online with people but have never found any useful forums, on driving itself (there are plenty of specific ones like this which are great!) so set up the above site. Now I just need people to come and talk and respond to my initial tips.

    Thanks.
    Ben

Would you consider yourself a danger to other road users/yourself? Hope not! And probably not! So come and talk about some of the situations you have been in!

I presume by living on the edge you mean driving fast? If you look at the tips I have posted they are more about making driving safer, but not necessarily slower. I personally don't think safe driving means driving slowly. Take the following as an example. Imagine you are following a car who is going at a much slower speed than would be appropriate for any given road, this means when you come up behind them you are more likely to get impatient and try and overtake. This is potentially a dangerous situation. Of course overtaking can be done safely but if you are stuck behind a 'crawler' you might be tempted to overtake in a not-so-safe situation. So I am certainly not an advocator of slow driving! Thats not to say I don't agree with sticking to 20mph outside schools etc, I know from first hand experience how easy it is to be hit by a car as a pedestrian. (Wasn't my fault) Anyway, check it out.

I go 5 over at most in the city. However, I attempt to over take about every vehicle possible.

Slow driving is dangerous, I've almost rear ended elderly people on the freeway when they merged in front of me and will not go over 40 mph.

As far as safe practices go, I think we have a smart enough bunch here. Perhaps you should try teaching a driver's ed class, because this probably isn't the group that needs help with their driving.
