omg, and to think that a company (MTV) could pay someone $40,000+ to make a car look cool, show after show...who would have thought
It was the episode where the guy had an old Ford Escort. To add a "curve," the car was unpimpable and they bought him a new Scion xB.

"How piMP3d is your ride??"
It's not that odd. Pimp my ride is a popular show. Who Wants to Be a Millionaire gave away a lot more money in each show.
Not only that, but West Coast Customs is being paid to get a whole lot of advertising. They usually mention the brands of the parts they put in. Enkei, Giovanni, etc. is probably donating the rims to them.

Wasn't the Scion donated too? I don't remember, but that escort (s?) was scary.

yeah it was scary I hope there aren't people who drive death traps like that in my area. And you wonder why insurance premiums are so high. Come to think of this, do you think that thing was even insured and inspected? That car would never pass inspection around here with all the restrictions around here. I mean you will fail inspection if your "check engine" light is on.

Pimp My Ride and all those other shows are all about sponserships from local vendors. that's why every 5 seconds you hear the actual part name and who supplied it.
one of my vendors saw the show and asked if i had the same thing *shakes head* he was aware of my car PC install and explained to him there's was an unmodifiable package ment for audio people with no PC knowlege, starting at $3k.
so far, mine has only cost me around $1700 :-) (note: $1100 of the $1500 is depreciated after 3 years to $750...the laptop that powers it)
