Above is place holders. 1 is on and 0 is off. For instance
The binary number
0-0-0-0-0-0-1-0 is equal to the decimal number 2 (minus the dashes of course)
The binary number
1-0-0-0-0-1-1-1 is equal to the decimal number 135
