p4 slows down when its gettin super hot, maybe that's the problem? or maybe ya have a memory leak someplace.....
This is a little off subject but I hope you guys can help me. I have a computer that is on almost 24/7 that runs WinMX (like Kazaa). After a about a day or 2 my computer starts to slow down and programs start to freeze, but after I restart every thing is back to normal. Does anybody know what causes it to slow down and what I can do to fix it?
Comp. Specs.
P4 2.4GHZ
512mb ddr ram
20 gig(main disk) + 80 gig (storage for WinMX)
Gforce 4 fx 5800
Please Help!!

heat isnt the problem, my computer runs pretty cool, and its olny shows 5% of the cpu while running WinMX. thanks for the reply
BTW, im running Window XP Pro
WinMX (at least this is true for me) does leak memory and fillllllled my computer with (junky) temp files. Check memory status for winmx when its slow... just hit crtl+alt+del and find winmx.exe on your list.... it starts at about 19,228 K (for me)
yeah it was like 35mb for me, so does anyone know how to fix this problem or make it not so bad?
"so does anyone know how to fix"
stop using WinMX and raising the cost of broadband service in your area
