knowing MS, probably not. but who's going to stop you if it is illegal?

i think you purchase a license for each machine...so chances are you're ok. might want to check the EULA or other 139520 page legal documents..

see...im thinking the same thing. but since that has nothing to do with what he asked, i decided to actually answer the question as best i could. hes obviously doing it anyways, so telling him to do it seems a bit redundent.

I believe Microsoft set up the activation "feature" in XP so it could only be installed on one machine. However I don't think anyone at Microsoft ever said anything about multiple installations on the same machine.

well, depending on the license you have, you should technically be able to install on "1-2 processors"...this is for the ppl out there who are fortunate enought to have dual proc systems...since that is kinda what you are doing, I think it could be bent into a legal argument...

Turns out I was wrong on this one. From the Windows XP EULA:

    * Installation and use. You may install, use, access, display and run one copy of the Product on a single computer, such as a workstation, terminal or other device ("Workstation Computer"). The Product may not be used by more than two (2) processors at any one time on any single Workstation Computer.

No, but i doubt/hope even microsoft isn't petty enough to take action against you unless you are

    A) A business using illegal copies
    or
    B) Mass distributing illegal keys

I own 3 copies of winxp(legit) but I run it on ahem....6 machines. If I happen to need the call number for the activation(sometimes it doesn't like to take the code at first) I use the call number complain about a HD crash and having to reload No problems. i think if I bought the 100 dollar software I can use it on MY computers as much as I wish. Goddamn Microsoft
