Got a letter from ISP. Business Software Alliance. WTF??

I got a letter from my ISP today. It says the Business Software Alliance (BSA) has informed them that I have been involved in the exchange of unauthorized copies of copyrighted software. WTF? They are threatening to cancel my HS internet service.

I haven't called yet to see what the scoop is, but this is total bull****, on many levels. I'm pretty ****ed. Anyone know anything about this? Does this have any relation to the Patriot Act?

I used to use Klite+ a while back. Is it loaded with spyware linked with this organization?

klite isnt loaded with spyware, but they can look and see who is downloading what and when. kazaa in itself is not at all secure, and nothing can be done to make it secure. i suggest if you want to continue with file swapping, get into a waste group, or a private hub.

You ISP probably sniffed some packets. Have you done and file trading recently? (past 6most - 1 yr)? Most ISPs reserve the right to check on you if they think you may be parttaking in illegal activity. Not a big deal, most the time anyways.

That is ridiculous. No big deal? They had absolutely no reason for suspicion. It's like searching a house with out permission or a warrant. The software they are claiming that I am trading is ridculous as well. I personly feel this infringes on civil libertys.
