bgoodman and I are in the same area, so I'll go with his statement.
Worst I ever paid was during the move earlier this year. At some place between Modesto & Bakersfield I paid $2.54/gal for 87-octane.

My wife tells me about gas prices in Europe and it helps me feel a little better but here in Memphis average just hit $1.95 (87) a gallon.

For those of you that are Metrically challenged, there are bout 4 liters in a gallon, approximately. that would make 85.9p per liter(re) about £3.43. BUT seeing as how the pound is about 1.5x the dollar, I don't have as much sympathy <g>

Not to mention, you can walk to the pub <g> that alone is upsetting )=
Try to walk to a decent bar here in Memphis and you'll be walking a few hours through dangerous ground.

A$1.07 per litre. roughly US$3.20 gallon. Half of that goes in tax. The uk is even worse!

Darn, ... where can I get gas for under 2 bucks in the US?
Shell, Mobile, Unico76, Chevron are around 2.35~2.39 for 87 Octane and 20cents more for 91 Octane. I have to put 91 in my Supra. At least I get very darn good gas mileage with the Matrix and it doesn't need 91.
