It's a fact of life, Softcopy will never truly replace Hardcopy. I still stick w/ my recommendation that anything above 3.2 Megapixels will be wasted unless you do larger sized prints. Now that's like saying, "Why should I spend all that money on an E-class, when a Nissan Maxima will suit my needs just fine." Of course, if an E-class is what you want, then do it up. The same goes for if the S400 and S500 are priced nicely. I'll never be one to say don't do it. However, if a 4-5 Megapixel camera is priced way more than a 3.2 Megapixel camera and larger prints are not in the equation, then in the interest of saving money, go w/ the 3.2...Originally Posted by Chairboy

You see, there's the catch, I wouldn't have a woman if I posted pics.Originally Posted by frodobaggins

I guess next step is to go check them out at the stores...
As far as the whole megapixel debate. Most of the time we lower the size and quality and go for quantity. I know I can only get ~180 medium/fine pictures on my 64mb CF card. Or, I could get as few as ~60 large/superfine or as many as 600+ small/normal.
I go with the medium/fine. It makes big (enough) pictures, in a picture quality that is virtually unnoticeable (especially when I shrink them down for internet/email size).
Of course, by looking at it, the Medium1/Fine on the SD110 is my A60's Large/Superfine setting...
Hmm... BB has a sale on media too. Might have to get me some.![]()
its really not a matter of how many megapixils it has.. now i'm no expert.. but doing research before i got my camera.. its all on the lense and the ccd.. if those suck then a 5 megapixil camera is not going to take good pictures.
That one fit my needs with good day/night shots.. very crisp and it is very small but powerfull for its size.

I'm gonna reccomend a fuji finepix s5000. good camera for the money (tho it's gone up since i bought mine). http://gallery.bg-1.com/ for a ton of sample pics.
I have a Canon SD100. I wonder what the difference is in the SD110? From the picture, it looks the same to me. And I think the features are the same, also.
I love mine. Especially the size, which was high priority for me. It's almost the exact same size as a pack of cigarettes.
It's also durable as hell. The all metal case rules. I don't even bother with a camera bag with it. I just toss it in my pocket.
I use 256MB SD cards. SD card was actually highest priority for me, so I can share them with my iPaq. With 256MB (x 3 cards), I have more storage than I need. I just leave the cam set at superfine (2048x1536 pixels).
I have mixed feelings about the battery. Great life, and recharges quickly. But, it's proprietary and expensive. My Sony used AA batts, which was convenient because I have 16 rechargeable AAs (I have a lot of devices that use AA). But, the Sony had poor battery life, and I always had to carry spares.
I thing I don't like about the SD100 is the mpeg recording. The length of the mpeg is limited to 30 seconds (at 640x480 - longer for 320x240). It doesn't matter if you have plenty of space on the card. After shooting for 30 seconds, I have to wait a few seconds for it to write to the card, then I can shoot another. My Sony would keep on recording until you filled the memory stick. But, the Sony did not record audio (which sucked).
I've had it for about 1 year so far. Extremely satisfied.
I'll just add this, another very important feature on any digicam is zoom. Make sure it has at least 3x optical if you go for the under 4 megapixel range, because the digital zoom is next to worthless. I have a Sony DSC-P52, and while I couldn't be happier with it, great pictures and almoas flexible as more expensive Canon's but the thing that bothers me about it now is the lack of zoom. It only has 2x optical which is fine 90% of the time, but there have been times when I really could have used that extra bit of zoom.
ecar, i have picked up like 4 batteries for my sd110 for like $4 each on ebayyou see them in stores for like $30

I forgot about the zoom. I agree.
The 2x zoom (optical) on the SD100 is not the best. I love 3-4x. But that would probably mean that the camera would have to be physically bigger.
