I totalled my CRX about 5 years ago almost exactly the same way.
Ended up in a spin in a rain-slicked road. I didn't hydroplane, but the road was just wet enough to bring all the oil up to the surface. My left rear went flat, and I went off the road. I tried to get back on the road (not knowing about the flat at that point), and went into a spin.
Caught the end of a guardrail in the passenger door at about 45-50mph, I estimate. Didn't hit any other cars.
I'm certain you were wearing a seatbelt and the airbags did their job. My ride had no airbags, but I'm sure my seatbelt did its job, as I'm here to tell you about it.
Glad you're OK, compadre. The car can be replaced...

Sorry to hear about the car, but you're alive. That could've been a lot worse.
And do your father a favor, get him a Volvo to replace the bimmer![]()
Yep, not too much you can do if hydroplaning that fast except try to keep the wheel as straight as possible and gradually slow down. You might have been able to press the cruise button vs. tap the brake, but not sure if that would have helped you much. I got into an accident in light rain, when the oil gets really slick on the road and my car and two others got totaled. Nobody got hurt in our case, so that is all that matters. That's what insurance is for. Glad you're ok.
Sorry to hear about your accident but I'm glad that your OK !
Having a computer in you car can save your life, for instance if you had uptodate weather warnings it could have alerted you a storm is in your area.
It could also have possibly prevented you from hydroplanning by making proper corrections or at least helped you NOT spin out.
When I'm designing and writing software for vehicles, it's always in the back of my mind about how I can create something that might save someone's life or car from an accident.

(really dumb thing to do in the rain) Slid throught an intersection and into a gas station right into the awning support. luckly no fire and no one was at the pumps. Mother dearest didn't even know I had the car.
Grayscale, I know this isn't the show off your project forum, but uh... got any pictures?

Sorry to hear that. Glad you're OK. I'd blame the tires. What were they? Any tread left?
