Im'e a n00b the problem is as a n00b you have no idea what your looking for as well as where it is. An hour ago someone asked about connecting his head unit up to his computer. I had seen this somewhere but did not know where after a search I found it as a sticky in the n00b section. Perhaps where your all going wrong is that you need a n00b sticky at the top of all sections pointing us to the n00b section bearing in mind that a n00b will not know what a n00b is (asbestos shirt at the ready)

I hear you, I vist another forum and for the most part people just ignore it, in fact I haven't seen anything like this there. I guess its a maturity thing.

I remember when I fist joined the forum, and it seemed like people have gotten increasingly more fed up. I don't remember quite as many questions to things that had been discussed quite often. I have seen some pretty silly post recently.

Examples--
Hey Will this AudioVox LCD work with a computer? I have a laptop, whats next? Can someone tell me how to get my amps to turn on without a HU.Can someone pickout and build my car PC for free, since I'm a dumb-***.

Luckly for me I have yet to be told to do a search, and that is because I simply looked around first. No replys telling me to search, I know were all a bunch of start-asses here.

most of us are here to help. we all get annoyed at some point. just turn and walk away from your keyboard or avoid the thread. it's not hard. i don't really have anything to add to this discussion...

When I run across a unresearched thread, I will usually just back out of it and make like I was never there. But when they come back 5 hours later and see no replies...and make another post asking why nobody has answered, then I become itrate. Thats 5 hours they could have been searching for the answer. But if they need to be spoon fed, it wont be from me. Come on people...this is a pretty easy to understand concept..we take computers, which require computer knoledge, and put them in cars, which require car knoledge. If you dont know how to load software on a pc, perhaps a carpc is NOT for you. If you cant find a switched power wire on your '87 hyundai, maybe you shouldnt be wiring it in the first place. Seek help.....but to expect US to find you the answer? It takes 5 minutes with a $5 probe to find the answer on your car, yet you will waste our time at the drop of a hat. We all started out as noob's, but not all noob's are the noob type. Some actually help themselves.

Like everything, this issue has two sides. I am new to this forum, but I do notice a lot of silly questions that fall in a category of personal preference or just some thinking around. So yes, I understand how it can be frustrating when a bunch of threads spring up that are asking about something that was answered several times and overall do not add any knowledge to this group.

On the other hand, sometimes people are damn quick to fire one off at the "noobs." I started a thread asking what people would like to see in a power supply for their car, and what do I get?

Hmmm... well, that was useless, seeing how most of the power threads are about already existing power supplies that people bought or adapted. I am going to be making one for my senior project, so in theory I could put a lot of stuff into it. But people saw a question they WANTED to see, and as the result after 40+ replies I had at most 5 useful responses. Now not only was that not useful, whatever my results are at the end, I am far less inclined to share them with the group, since you know... I don't want to bother with the flaming.

So yeah,

and whatever else at the noobs, but make sure they really do deserve, and it probably would help to contain the anger, for a small community such as this it is not very beneficial to scare/**** off any potential new fanatics, no matter how uneducated they are to begin with. Everyone can learn (or we can force them too

)

So true, I think it's just eaiser to yell noob and get the extra post, instead of taking the time to answer the question, or just ignore it alltogether.

And yes your right I think the media coverage of CarPC's have increased the number of people that want a carpc but will never have the knowledge or the patience to complete such a project.

Understandable, yet does not excuse jumping to conclusions about the question before trying to read it all through. I completely agree that there are some moronic questions being posted, but just because someone is a n00b does not mean they don't know what they are asking about.

Just don't shoot someone with low post count, give them a chance, read the posrt... and then kill them.

Not true.
At least not from me. Being intelligent gains my respect. The coders here that make the front-ends & apps that I never could gain my respect (ol33l, Frodo, others). The hardware hackers that develop new stuff (HybridGuys, Seth). The clean installs get my respect.
Post counts don't.
Roger Wilco stayed up for three days straight to get his high post count, and he never earned my respect

Seriously, I didn't expect this to get this far. And I must admit that y'all are pretty cool to put up with me and my ranting. What's odd is that I'm in an even worse mood at the end of today due to work bull****.

I wholly understand n00b questions. I'm sure when I can actually afford to buy pieces/parts and do my install, I'll have my own, despite the 500+ post-count. My post count merely indicated the number of times I've said something here. It's not a reflection of knowledge, intelligence, experience, wisdom, or whatever.

But I'm also not afraid to make some decisions about how I want the interior of my ride to look when it's done. I'm not going to leave that decision up to y'all because I feel it's my decision to make. And if I turn my dash into piece of ****, it's on me, because I did it.
And dammit, I'm OK with that.

It's been said many times, post counts don't mean ****.
You could have a million post and not know anything about computer or cars. You just don't get respect by having a high post count. This is what I say about post counts:
