Well they were specially made for Australia instead of being converted so that's why it's rare cause only 2000 were available in Australia.

Probes are rare in the Uk too - cos nobody bought them! The car just did not appeal to UK buyers. When it came out everyone was like "wow, a sports car from ford" but i think it got a few bad reviews and it seemed a bit too 'soft' and impractical and nobidy bothered to buy it. Another thing that didn't help were the swirl pattern wheels that came with the base model - they were just too small and looked like the logo on a washing powder packet. The 24V model looked so much better but i guess not many people were interested. It was marketed as the next Capri and for people that would appeal to it simply wasn't and for the other people who didn't like Capris it put them off too! Jsut the wrong car for our market.

BAck to that cable though! Crikey, have you tried going to a ford spares specialist and seeing if they have one off another car that will fit? or maybe a salvage place. America is probably your best bet though - just don't buy from a dealer. I got charged 4x more for a genuine Pug balljoint than a good quality replacement but i needed it the same day so had to pay.

What about taking the cable out tourself and seeing if you can just get a new piece of cable?

Hell, hearing a Probe called a sports car makes me giggle...

Regardless, you can probably buy the part from eBay or order it from an online salvage yard...Or just mail order from an American/Canadian dealer.

What a shame, I used to have 96 PGT and when I cracked my rear taillight I was able to get the whole taillight assembly off eBay for $45 USD. Also, my moonroof rusted through, I was able to find the whole moonroof assembly, motor and all for $150 USD on eBay. The squeeky window problem was very common in the second generation Probes.

Yeah we only had 2000 and all were GT models no shuch thing as base model here and we had all the good **** as standard to like premium sound system clear indicators and all black interior and a few other changes on the body.

The car was ment for excutives down here that's why shuch a low number was special made for australia

And the car cost $64,000 when it came out

Got a good history here and they fixed most of the common problems in out probes as australia is the highest standard in safety in the world.

I really don't like the UK model why they cut 20% of the flip-up light is beyond me

Yeah but you don't have the Amber turning corners which are needed in our country and the UK/German lights aren't the same as our's so were stuck wit the high prices cause there is very few wrecked probes and all the US guys are trying to get out rear lights :P

Yeah I know it's funny to you guys

It is underpowered as all the standard car's here are 4.8 or 5.0 litre V6's and only the small car are either 2.0 or 1.8. we don't really have any midsized car's altho our cars aren't as big as usa

You should check out ford australia they make good cars and don't borrow the designs off usa

The ford Falcon is kind for ford here as it is a fully made and designed car like most

The xr6 or xr8 are the good looking sedans with a bit of a sporty streak (there damn powerful)

    But enough bout aussie :P

I'm just like you. I got a 87 Accord LXI, and almost every part on it is a rare part straight from Japan. My brother loves to taunt me by parking his truck like an inch over my car....It ****es me off cause of how much these parts cost.
