I still think that you are jealous.

The driving problem is not just limited to kids. I see adults all the time that can't drive for ****. Especially in 3 series. Those drivers are just plain assholes.

I wouldn't care what happened to a hyundai if my parents baught it for me either. Its a POS car.

My main problem is that little kids do not know how to drive to begin with, regardless of what they drive. Then mommy & daddy give that kid a brand new car to tool around in. I'd say about 80% of these cars are fast, a lot faster than they need to be for a learner. Add the speed of the car, w/ the kid's already inflated attitude, and feeling of immortality and that just leads to trouble. Also, these kids are the same brats that feel they are owed every little thing, thus they do not appreciate what they have or care that there parents gave them an expensive gift like that.

So, there was no jealousy involved in my post. What set me off was some dumbass kid, claiming that he didn't care what happened to his car, b/c his parents bought it. Granted, it was a 2004 Hyundai (which is definitely not something to be envied), but the fact remained that it was bought for him & he showed no sense of appreciation toward what he had received. Then on my way to school/work I see all these tools in new BMW's, Infiniti's, Audi's and such that are no more then 18/19yrs old and who CANNOT drive at all.

It just makes sense that you give a brand new driver something safe, but something that can take damage. Giving them a brand new car when they cannot drive is a big mistake. However, I still think that this country wouldn't have raised an assload of pussies if parents were allowed to hit their children when needed w/o the specter of Child Portective Services looming in the background.
Agreed with you on child rearing

I'm not going to fight w/ you on the jealousy thing, if that's what you believe then there is no changing it.

You are correct that some adults do not know how to drive....I know there are times when I drive like a tool, but for the most part I try to be repectful of other while on the road.

I think that you should appreciate any vehicle that you are given, even if it is a Hyundai. However, I've also learned that people appreciate possessions more if they have to work to get them, so it's not totally unexpected to take something given to you for granted...

I can say that I'm very appreciative of my grandma for getting me the SC... because its the car I wanted. I have to pay for the repairs and gas. I can say that I wouldn't give a **** if I would have gotten a new Hyundai (which would also be more expensive ) because it isn't the car that I want. I love my car, and I felt really bad when someone ran into it

OMG do you see what I mean? My car is all i can afford.

It seems as though you are defending OTHER kids with nice cars becasue you think you have a nice car - well you don't. You have an old Japanese mans tank of a car. I would not be seen dead in your car and if i had the choice of my pug or your car I would laugh at yours and let the handbrake off so it rolled into the river where it belongs.

YOu need to seriously grow up and stop commenting on other peoples cars because it is rude and it is hypocritical becasue of what you drive.

Not everyone wants to spend all their money on their car - there are a billion more important things in life and most of them are much more sociable. I could buy a nice WRX or Merc C class or Audi or IS200 but instead I choose to spend money on going diving, sky diving, skiing etc etc and I know what i would rather spend my money on. My car may not be fast in a straight line but it gets to the legal limit ok, will do 110 round bends on A roads and is a damn sight more fun to drive than any tank like yours.

Sorry to hear about that. Engineers must not get paid much in England

I'm defending kids with nice cars because there ARE some that deserve the cars for their school performance, and lots that don't.
I never said that my car is the best, I said its better than most of the newer cars you can get for around $20g. I had a choise between my car and a NEW base RSX. Why did I choose the SC? Because its RWD, has class, and isn't a honduh. Plus I saved my grandma a lot of money.

SERIOUSLY there needs to be less hostility on this forum.

as far as i can see, there is no problem with these kids driving new cars... and anyways how do you KNOW that they didnt work their asses off to buy em in the first place? (probably not i know :P) but at the end of the day... would you turn down a new car if your parents gave you one?
yea. some of them arent going to respect it as much as a car they brought themselves, but why does that bother YOU. thier parents know the kid, and more than likeley know that hes a brat..... its not got anything to do with you.

and as for bad drivers, it dont matter what theyre driving, theyll still be on the road.
