Good thing that I don't drive an old benz. My car is practically all metal on the outside except for the bumpers and lights. 95 SC300s were the first ones to meet 97 side impact safety standards.

I didnt say his car was unsafe just not as safe as he might think as it is an older car and so much work has gone on in recent years that cars from 10 years ago are well behind current standards - EG my Mercedes - Clio example. And also i am only familiar with the new Euro NCAP saftely standards not old American ones and there will be no data for the Lexus as it won't have been tested. If it was is suspect it would not do particulalry well as the new tests are very stringent.

EDIT: and jsut because a car has passed 80% of your gonverments saftely tests it doesn't mean it is a "very safe car" it just means it is adequate to pass the tests they performed at the time to the standards they set at the time. Go get youself an engineering degree and then see what you think of goverment safety standards.

Its all about real world experience. Search some www.clublexus.com posts about the sc300s in wrecks. While the car may be total, the driver comes out.

Im 17 and drive an 03 Altima Ya im grateful that my parents bought me this car, but i dont think you have the right to judge people cuz they drive nicer cars than you and are younger... Some people these days are just better off than others Doesnt mean kids are spoiled even though some are.... Yes my car was bought for me but all the extra lil things i do to it such as carputer and reasonable mods come from my pocket.... I work, and I just happen to have a nice car to get me to work....

and about the Fast and Furious ****.... Ya i like to mod.... and i do mod.... but i dont go and weld on dual 4 inch mufflers that i got off of ebay for $32.64 I do it Conservatively! ...... To each his own

(BTW I do have the 3.5)

Thats good - at leasrt we know navivoice development is not in danger if anyone runs into you

Yeah the benz rsults were pretty shocking - you expect one of thse to be safe. European car manufacturers have done a lot of work puching standards as it is a good selling point. I have seen some pretty close calls with young friends of mine - one guy crashed his 20 hour old brand new car that daddy bought him by going too fast on a country lane after taking a mate out in it during morning break to show off. I bet his mum and dad were glad he wasn't driivng one of the old wrecks some of us were in back in those days.

I drive pretty fast. My speedo said 70mph on a 35mph street (the part of santa monica that was part of old route 66). But yeh, this car is safe!

Refresh my memory.... did the new 5 series pass the euro safety standards? As far as I recall, thye switched metal compounds and the frame was greatly reduced in firmness. That true?

I was driving Jaguar XKR's, Range Rovers and a couple of brand new Aston Martins at 19! I have an advanced driving license and I have been on a few skid pan days with my work mates! Safe to say I can drive and being young

Pity I only actually own a Ford Fiesta (2000) ha!

Ha no I work at the compound where all of the new cars are kept!

But back on track, I hate cocky kids with fast cars who dont know how to use them properly

Cool, but what job did you have at the compound?

I don't really care for kids with fast cars. I've got one

So if you guys are jealous that some kid has a better car then you, then you have something to strive for
