Correct me if I am wrong... but this is not a car that turns your head on the street and makes you say under your breath "bastard, I wish I had that".
No, I am so not jealous of the Elantra. Actually I'm not jealous at all, I just hate to see when you have these little kids driving brand new cars. Maybe it's a "pay your dues" feeling I have on the matter, but it is far from jealousy. I'm not saying that little Billy doesn't deserve a safe car, but you shouldn't give him a brand new E class or something similar.

I knew this kid, Justin we'll call him. Well Justin had gotten a brand new 2000 Toyota Celica for his 16th birthday (got his permit & license within that time). About 6 months after he got the car, he wrecked it. So what did mommy & daddy do? They went out & bought him another brand new vehicle. Now you may ask yourself, what exactly is the moral of this story? Well, I feel that the moral of the story is that if you're buying a vehicle for a kid, then you should get something that won't make the kid act like an *** on the road.

I'm sure there are exceptions to my "assclown" statement and I know there are plenty of older drivers out there that do suck *** too. I just notice that the majority of younger drivers w/ new cars drive like total and complete dumbasses.

So it was just a rant about something that ****ed me off, no jealousy involved. However if you wish to take it as such, then go for it...

No hard feeling at all. Look, I'm very happy w/ my Spec V. I've had very little to no problems w/ it & I'm the one who purchased it. I'm glad that you're appreciate what your parents gave you, that's actually a good thing, too many kids these days feel it's their right to have a newer car.

As for the "i dont think you have the right to judge people cuz they drive nicer cars than you and are younger" comment. I have every right to judge, b/c it's my opinion, an observation that I've made. That observation (and I have modified it a little) is that the majority of little kids w/ new cars drive like total asses. As I stated in my previous post, there are exceptions, but from what I've seen, they are few & far between. No offense to you or any of the other younger members of this board, but that is my opinion based on the the younger drivers I've seen on the road w/ newer vehicles...

    .

I'm 22, have an 04' Tacoma and I'd fall under the "kid" catagory. But I do know how to drive and I took offense to this thread.

Why am I driving in a brand new truck ?? Because I make great money, why do I make great money ? Because I took my education serious and I knew what I wanted to do the minute I got to school, stayed focused and got a job in my field before I finished school.

You know what I hate ? Jelouse poeple who like to spin thier tires in the mud blaming the world for thier mishaps.

As for this comment, wake up and smell the coffee man, everyone drives like asses... you know how many times I've almost been run over by an elderly person or had to dodge out of the way by a woman on her cell phone doing her makeup ???

If you read the post above yours, then you would see that I covered that:
"I know there are plenty of older drivers out there that do suck *** too. I just notice that the majority of younger drivers w/ new cars drive like total and complete dumbasses."

I'm glad you make great money and all that good stuff. You had a goal and you went for it. I'm not blaming anyone for my current station in life. As a matter of fact, I quite happy where I am right now. I've taken the long path in education, but I'm much happier that I did. I appreciate things a little more due to the path I've taken. However, I'm also glad that you took offense to my thread. The fact that you took offense & supported your side as you did, shows that you appreciate what you have. Did mommy & daddy buy your truck for you? No, you claimed that you bought it, therefore you fall into the exception category, as there are exceptions to eveything ever said. The good thing is, you made me think a little on this and I've decided to revise my original statement for clarity...

My problem is w/ little kids who drive brand new cars that mommy & daddy bought for them and don't appreciate what they have. These are the kids who think they are entitled to eveything & anything, and are the same kids who drive like assclowns. These are the people who totally **** me off.

If you bought your own car, helped to buy your own car, drive safely for the most part, appreciate what your were given, then you do not apply to this. You more than likely took offense to my original post. Am I sorry that you may have taken offense? No, I'm not, b/c it is/was my opinion and I stand by it. Should I have clarified a little more in the original post? Yes, I probably should have, but it was a rant and rants aren't always clear...

Well thats excepted, you have a more dirver that are older therefore more chances of fatal crashes in that age group. This chart needs to weigh in the percentage of each age group.

It does. Take a look at the fatalities per 100,000 drivers. It's highest for younger drivers and drops for each age group. We may need to retest older drivers but the statistics show that they have the fewest fatal accidents per 100,000 until they're over 70. Doesn't mean they don't wreck their cars a lot, just that they don't get killed.

i think i can safely say that my mom can keep me in line and not driving like a maniac considering her driving record. got her license at 16 years of age. took her test in an old Buick she calls "a tank" (sorry. dont remember exactly which car. going to have to ask). instructor said that if she could parallel park it, he would pass her on the spot. low and behold she got it first time . she is now 46 years old and has a spotless driving record and has also had a Class B CDL for 8+ years (school bus driver).

yeah. i dont have my drivers license yet and ill be 18 next month. so sue me. im not willing to pay out the wazoo for insurance.
