I was not able to get a car till I was about 25 years old
and even then it was junk - in school the rich kids were
called preps - and we were called the hoods ,the preps
acted like we were dog crap - and we stole there stuff
and beat them up - its the cycle of life

And I not going to lie - my dad pays a lot of my bills
and I live with him - but most the $$$ I make I give to
him to pay him back - I work on the weekends and go
to college week days - plus I do all the house and yard
work - I am a bum but I try to do good

I'm 17. I drive an 04 saturn ion, thanks to my parents. Well I have to say younger people do drive like crap! Personally I think I drive good, but sometimes I like to have fun, and well I might drive like an *******. But god dammit its fun!!!!

I have been pulled over twice and both times for speeding. But also, both times I knew the police officers and never got tickets. I know a lot of cops.

Oh ya and I totaled my brother Dodge ram 1500 less than 3 months ago!! It was the other guys falt (he was drunk). I got the saturn and mybro got a new 05 mustang!

Anyway I guess my point is I love my car and understand that other people are less fortunate. Which is why I enjoy my car as much as possible and try to keep it accident free.

Sorry if I'm not makin since, I am pretty intoxicated.

How's this, I'm sixteen, drive my brother's scooter all the time, drivin' with my sister couple of times, mowed the lawn since I was 10 yr(.70 acres) and have had the advantage of video games to some-what learn off(not really...but they help with reflex's and what not to do)...of ever since I was born...but I'm most likley getting a 1990 camry until I get another car with money that I earned with my own job and get something under $4000...I know drivin a scooter is a hell of a lot different from driving a car, and I'm not trying to say that 'just because I've drivin' a few times, I'm a great driver.' But I defently have the ability to be alert at all time...And yeah, I'm a kid, I'm more then likely to get in quite a few accidents reguardless to how much knowledge I think I have...**** happen's...

But yeah I agree with the brand new car ****...that ****es me off when my friends' parents buy them 350z's, Lexus's, and stupid **** like that. And it's usualy the most spoiled, uncaring, SOB who doesnt car if he wrecks it.

But seriously...It's just a first car, who the hell cares what it is? I would be okay with driving a beat up mini-van...for a short period of time...

Having a beater car for your first ride is awesome! It doesn't matter if you dent it, your friends can throw up in it and you can just hose it out, and you can rip the dash out and put a pc in it without your parents freaking out.

Check out Blasterguy (I'm not picking on you, BTW) but 2 speeding tickets and a totaled car and you're not 18 yet. I had a couple of speeding tickets and one or two fender benders under my belt at that age, too. But when I had to pay my own insurance and needed my car to drive to work I calmed right down. Now I'm that guy you can't stand to be behind in traffic.

I think you guys are right. There's something wrong with the PARENTS here, not the kids. There's no way I'm buying my kids a new car when they're old enough. I'm not too old to remember how I drove when I was 16. They either earn it or they're walking. That way if they trash it, it's their stuff they're destroying.

i know what you mean, the people whos parents buy them cars dont worry about wrapping it arround a lamp post, their parents payed for it and probably will again, where as if you buy your own car, you are more carefull about crashing it as it will be you who has to pay for it.

im 17, had a P reg 106 as my first car, was rly carefull because i had just passed, didnt drive like a t**t cuz i was scared about having to fork out to get my car sorted / loose my licence.

i just got a newish corsa, its my pride and joy atm so im so carefull with it, if i was given it, yeah, i would prob drive it differently
