Check out Blasterguy (I'm not picking on you, BTW) but 2 speeding tickets and a totaled car and you're not 18 yet. I had a couple of speeding tickets and one or two fender benders under my belt at that age, too. But when I had to pay my own insurance and needed my car to drive to work I calmed right down. Now I'm that guy you can't stand to be behind in traffic.

I think you guys are right. There's something wrong with the PARENTS here, not the kids. There's no way I'm buying my kids a new car when they're old enough. I'm not too old to remember how I drove when I was 16. They either earn it or they're walking. That way if they trash it, it's their stuff they're destroying.
I still cant stop driving like an ******* at 22, I'd feel retarded buying a new car for my future kid at age 16. The difference between me and MOST 16 yr olds is: I drive with precision accuracy and care not to kill people. I have had no wrecks, not even at the fault of others cause I avoid morons like the plague, and one speeding ticket, for doing 79 on the Interstate in a 70 zone, whoopidy doo. I guess my problem is with drivers who dont pay attention, cause I was in the car with my mom through five accidents, 3 of them totals. I PAY ATTENTION. Youngins havent had enough scares or insurance hikes (that they have to pay) to pay proper attention.
EDIT: paying attention while speeding has saved me from some big tickets. In fact, the one I got for 9 over I had been going 20 over, the cop even congratulated me for slowing down so fast. He said he knew I was paying attention!

Sounds like the usual "it's not me, it's the others" mentality.
I have found you an argument; I am not obliged to find you an understanding.

Hey, i'm 17, and i got a 93 Crown Vic with 206,000 miles on it. My parents DID pay for it, but as a result i'm my little siblings personal choeffour. (good deal for them huh) When i breaks, i have to go out there and fix it, my dad teaches me if i don't know how. So far i've replaced the Water pump, the spark plugs, rear shocks, did a complete overhaul of the airbag suspension to normal springs, replaced the HEATER CORE (shudder), thermostat, battery wires, and idler pulley. It one of the safest and largest car out there. I had to go to driving school on my saturdays for 3 months to get my parents approval to drive. I had to WORK for my license, and i hate all those pretentious *****es at school. One of 'em even has a Ford Excursion with a custom plate that says "Daddy's Little Angel"

    What a *****
I'mmmmmm a n00b.... feel free to make fun

That's for another thread, this one is for baggin' on teenies with flashy cars.

I wasn't exactly given a car, but I did have free access to it when I first got my license. I was a moron. Of all the kids I knew growing up, only one of them was reasonable behind the wheel, and she was a pain in the *** passenger (now that I look back, it was probably because I was such an *** behind the wheel). Kids don't know what they need to in order to make them good drivers. We as a country just give out licenses to anyone who can sign their name. On my test I had to parallel park in a 25 FOOT SPOT!!!! I mean, come on, where's the test? The only one I know who failed turned down the wrong way on a one way street for crying out loud.

I'm older now, and drive slower, and earned the car I drive. I won't be giving my kids anything more than a 4-banger. I'll probably try to get the governer dropped to 80. I'll install a carputer with a gps tracking recorder. If they try anything, I'll know immediately. G-forces, rpms, speeds, locations. Everything. If they don't want me knowing everything, they can get a job and buy their own car and get their own insurance. I'm not going to let them get away with the crap I did. I cost my mother too damn much money.
