    Garage door torsion spring

Man this thing is freaking dangerous.
Yesterday, after moving my car out of the garage, hit the button to close the door. Half way down, I hear a big BANGGG. Still don't know what the hell going on. Came back in the afternoon, the freaking torsion spring just snap in 1/2 and the 2 cables on the sides also broke.
Lucky that only one car was in the garage. If the other car (Matrix) still in the garage, the back window must been smash. There was a big dent on the floor. I don't know what cause it cuz I can fine nothing in the garage.
Now I have to put a towel over my LCD when park outside. Such that garage door is darnnnnnn heavy.

Ah, be glad you didn't get crushed. Is it a wood door or a metal door? I installed garage doors for a while, and those springs are dangerous, you have to know what you're doing to mess with em.

Are there 2 springs? Maybe one came loose and left all the weight on the other one. But then again, they do go through a lot of stress. I took the cables off and adjusted mine once. The door fell and a I had to get someone to help me lift it back up. I felt like such a wimp.

Wow, the same thing just happened to me a couple of weeks ago. I am going to just have a whole new door installed.
