    Plastic/Paint spraying robot

    Hi guys, need some help....

I am looking for a small robotic paint/plastic spraying machine for my research but have absolutely no idea were to start! Does anyone have any experience with small robotic arms and spraying equipment?

The current full-scale system uses an ABB robot and a a dual nozzle system to spray 2-part plastics which polymerise on the surface and i nee to mimic this on a small scale and also need to know approximate costs so i can submit a purchasing proposal.

    Cheers

    Andy

i though someone here might work with robotics or spray equipment but obviously we are all to busy playing with carPCs to do anything else. Oh well

What do you want to know?

Are you just researching or making a small robotic spraying machine?

I have to spray plastics from a couple of pressurized containers (2 part plastic) through a single nozzle onto a substrate. The robot arm is to ensure controlable thickness. I found a small ABB arm (25kg) but i have no idea how much this kit costs or what other stuff i need (to presurise tanks etc). Have my hands full with the actual PhD and then get asked to kit out the workshop too!

Are you buying everything premade? or making it out of the readily available parts?

You need a compressor, spray gun with paint bottle. Dunno how you want to mount the spray gun to the arm. You will also need to control the amount of spray with a stepper motor.

Unless you want to buy everything predone, but whats the point? Might as well buy a whole spraying machine.

This might help you >>> http://www.machinemart.co.uk/ with some parts.

yeah i aint designing a spray rig. i want a complete off the shelf set up with a robotic arm etc for making plastic coatings accurate to 10th if not 100th of mm. I am doing a PhD in materials not spray rigs! Just have no idea how much this kind of thing will cost, where to get it from and what i need. I don;t like contacting places until i at least have an idea of what i and some expectation of what it will cost. I have to then go back to my sponsors and tell them. My best guess is about 5k for something basic and mass produced but i really have no idea.

i guess its some kind of automotive paint spraying rig i need.

I am thinking it might just come in very handy for my mouled dash - i can apply a nice plastic/rubberised coating to it instead of paint
