    Anybody hiring professionals?

I need a change of venue, and a better salary (so that I can get that number in my sig down quicker)

My current job title is Information Systems Specialist at a regional bank. I am currently participating in conversion from an IBM Mainframe to a Sun machine to kind of give you an idea of what I've been doing. Looking for anything other than a sales or "tech" position (I wear a suit to work and i'd like to keep it that way).

I gotta get this Sun conversion done, so I can't start till April 1. Looking for $42,000 or better, and I'll do the travel thing.
    Debt as of 1/1/05: $34,354.48
Debt as of July 4, 2007: $0.00 explanation
    I'M DEBT FREE!!
I'm now a reasonably successful gunblogger.

I just got a new job as a field service engineer servicing medical equipment. Car, laptop, tools, training, expenses, etc. etc. and I have never been happier. Nothing like being 100% independent of supervision, responsible for your own work, and escaping the 9-5 IMO. Took over 6 months to get it though. Set up a Monster agent, apply for everything that looks good, and be patient. Always follow up on resume submittals, calls, and interviews. The person that hired me admitted to me that my resume (experience) was weak, and was moved from the B pile to the A pile simply because I called to follow up on it and to re-express my interest. Otherwise I would never even have been interviewed. Of course knowing someone and networking is always the best way to get an in.

Well if your looking to make good money and cost of living is reasonable, I would consider moving to Ohio/ Michigan. Detroit, MI area is great place to work (well surrounding areas). You have the big 3 automanufacuters and alot of other companies that do work for them. You can easily make between 45,000. to 65,000 just for being a network admin. When I was working for Sprint up there, I was making 82K. I have talked to other techs around the us, and thought that the people in california working for cisco would be making good money, I was wrong. So if willing to travel than I would highly suggest Ohio/ Michigan

look in the Columbus area here in Ohio. my cousin took CIS in college and as soon as he got out he got a job at the Bank One HQ in Columbus starting out at $40K-ish. he is now 32 years old, still working at Bank One and is making $70K+. pretty fine job he has imho.

I don't miss Ohio one bit.
Have you looked in the FAQ yet?
