Golf and a polo drivers, I have yet to see one thats not in a hurry and doesnt drive like a dick. Some Audi are ok, I can tolerate them. I bet the bad audi drivers used to own a golf

Maybe its different cars in your area but its golf and polo are the norm dick of the road in london.

Anyway what a 0-60 in 11secs golf gti gonna do with thier fat ***. A metro dustbin can out accelerate them in no time

BMW 3rd series are definitely the worst perpetrators as far as I know. I had one circling me today as if he had a death wish, unfortunately I didn't have enough time to fulfill it. Not sure what GTI you drive, but they have much better time than 11 (at worst 7's) and around here (cali) Golf's are about as rare as Corvettes (that is to say, there is a butt load of Corvettes) and they don't need to drive like crazy to get noticed.
BUT if I was to judge by what the Highway Patrol stop, I swear that you would think the only perpetrators out there are Honda's made before '91 or girls driving Jettas.

Im sorry but look here >>>

    Golf MK3 GTI 8v = 10.3 secs (manufacturers figures)
    Golf MK4 GTI 8v = 10.5 secs (manufacturers figures)

They are still golf aint they, and they are the worst drivers I have seen

I have seen MK4 R32 = 6.6 secs, he didnt need to drive like a dick. I respected the car as well as the guy driving it.

Way to go. What about the VR6? the 1.8T? Even the original 1.8T with 150hp ran 0-60 in 7.3 seconds. And to address what Red said, Chris31 hasa valid argument... just not a SOUND argument.
Here is basics of argumentation Chris31:
IF the GTI only came with 8V, then your statement that GTI only runs 11 second 0-60 would be both VALID and SOUND. However, since you seem to neglect the basic truth that there is more than one variation of GTI, that makes your statement valid but NOT sound if argue for it.
Also, I don't know where exactly you are, but here in states there is no longer such thing as 8V GTI.... unless you manage to blow up half of your 1.8T.
Anyways, may be next time you won't try silly "bait and silly argument"

Porsche 944 is as close as you can get ..
    Corvette is second

Porsche 944 - engine in front, transmission in back.. engineered with driver weight to make equal weight on all 4 wheels.... so passenger throws it off a little.

It can take turns and curves fast and without effort....
only downside is launching it.... it breaks the R&P

But why the hell do they have so many GTI variants???

It's because cheap bastards want a GTI badge to show off but won't pay for the 1.8T or other quicker models so go for a basic 2 litre that does 0-60 no faster than average family hatchback. VW are to blame - they know that if they put a GTI badge on it people will buy it. The V5 4 motions and R32's are the models i would go for but then again i would just get the TDI 150 and have bags of torque and save some fuel bills.

Valid point but since I am in US, does not apply, we don't have the 2.0 GTI anymore.

And yeah, you are right, people want the badge. Which is why so many people just HAVE to have 3rd series BMW. Because it is relatively "cheap" yet already a BMW. Just remember the 318 (which we dont have in US anymore either). That was a sad excuse for a "Driving Machine" yet it sold because of the badge. Oh yeah, and when my family was in an accident, we squared off head to head with a BMW 3rd series, the bastard was so sure of himself, he did not even apply breaks at any point of time.
