That, folks, would be a difference of $15,632.40 over the last year.
    that is absolutely amazing.

perhaps that laptop (or a PC in general) could be your reward to yourself once this is all paid off?

Laptop, motorcycle, LASIK, diesel pickup....these are all things that I have almost bought in the last year. After I'm debt free and have about $7000 in the bank, I'll think about which one I want to buy first

    well, dammit.

shoulda bought the laptop. My sister just moved here after graduating college and I was gonna use her laptop, but it won't boot to Knoppix. Then I found out why.....600mhz and 64mb of RAM.

Good thing I didnt know that this morning, else there'd be a $800 laptop on the way to my house.

There are a lot of "Dave Says" comments coming from me lately, and everyone around me thinks I'm fricken crazy. I make $2000 a month, and I pay $1000 a month on debts. Can you imagine that? HALF?! WTF!
that's all you take home in the IT field? i have a Assoc. in Internet technology, but i work at a sawmill as a skilled laborer(machine operator), and i make more then that

Depends on what the job is and the company. I was screwed over by a small consulting company and as soon as I left for a decent company and my salary went from 30k to 60k per year just making that small jump.
I'm not fond of Dave Ramsey, he's simply taking credit for things that have been known for years.
I started working hard at debt reduction, started making double payments on my school loan and paid it off then started making double payments on my wife's car and have about $2600 left on it now and am going to be getting a bonus from work here soon and tax refund so I hope to get enough from both to pay it off real soon. We worked hard last year to get somewhat ahead and now my wife was able to quit work and stay home as we have our first child due the end of this month. I worked up a budget covering all our monthly bills, utilities and groceries and gas and as soon as her car is paid off we will have about 650 left from each of my checks (bi-monthly pay) for whatever such as eating out, clothes, etc. I know my health insurance will go up once the baby comes though, not sure how much that will be but were still not too bad off for a single income with our own house and two vehicles made in this century.

yeah the IT field can either pay extremely well or extremely poorly. it's all about who you know.

Ramsey's talant isn't in the informaiton that he gives ... it's in his ability to pitch it to people in a way that motivates them to follow his suggestions and stick to them. And, generally speaking, the type of people who gather a lot of debt are usually people who don't take/follow advice very well.

i have a few friends who I give step by step instructions to on a regular basis on things as simple as easy ways to lower your monthly commitments resulting in more money to pay off debt/spend. Of course these people always do the opposite of what I say and end up worse off.

So getting people to actually do what he says is why he's great.
