    Yep Lumenlab is the best
to start with - it does cost $20 to get into but well worth it

My next projector may be a lumenlab style

Lumenlab is a great place for stuff like this, the forums are awesome.

    As is DIYAudio.
DIYAudio is were I got my start - there good, but you got to search your
    brains out like here

Well i just got a overhead projector off ebay which runs $5 bulbs that last for 200hours
You may want to upgrade to a HQI setup its about $100 but even with a 250w setup you can watch TV with the lights on and the $30 lamps last 20,000 hours -

i'll put up some pics in a few days but i need to build a stand for the LCD and a fan to keep the LCD cool while above the overhead projector.
I used one of them OHP LCD pannels - I am lazy - got it for $50 on ebay
just before the Toms Hardware craze drove prices up

The quality is just so damn good i really am shocked i expected it to be a ok quality worth watching movies your already seen.

    Sorry for the smiley overload
I felt the same way, I was the happiest man on earth - like I just got married
to a super model - A big TV does that to a man

Good luck, and keep us posted. and put up some pics -

I built one from an Apollo A1000 and nView Spectra C (total project cost of <$100) a couple years ago. The display was satisfying but the unit itself was way too big and noisy so I got rid of it.

Sorry i took so long was waiting till good friday to spend some time on it

I got it hooked up in the lounge room and the quality is ok but in my room it's fantastic and i noticed why

I've got digital tv in my room and it's crystal clear but on normal cable tv it just looks a tab blury compared to the digital tv.

I attached a few photo's i took some from a cartoon and some from a real tv show.

Now in the cartoon you see some lines etc on the picture that is cause the glass top broke when the unit arrived

So i used the glass top off my old table which is very dirty and thats why u got the lines

I also put my hand over the flash a bit so you can see the actual screen and some of the image projected.

It really is great but i reccomend you use something like digital tv or get a xga monitor/use a old laptop with a video in card etc.

    Enjoy the pics

If your gonna use a 5" PS1 screen i reccomend you use a digital tv or digital cable if it's available normal cable quality just isn't good enough

what about these cheap screens? think they will work? I emailed a few that had bought them, asking about the quality. Im sure they would. Anyone else know of another cheap solution?

Looks like it would be easy to pop the backlighting off that unit altho im worried it's a STN LCD which sucks ***

He doesn't mention if it's active or passive or even STN type LCD

You want an Active as passive blurs with fast motion and STN is real cheap lcd's but there really only good for things that dont move alot on screen not even that.

I wouldnt ask the seller as he would probably lie out of his *** or wont even know what type it is.

I guess check what the other people with the lcd have to say a good judgement is playing a fast fight scene from the matrix on it the screen will be so blurred if it's passive or stn
