Divx Converter

Does anyone know of a DVD to DIVX converter. A converter that is free to download, and also will copy protected DVDs?

DVD Decryptor. Get it from doom9.org.
EDIT: Reread your post, after you use DVD Decryptor, you will then use AutoGK to convert from the decrypted DVD files to DIVX. Both programs are super easy to use, free, and work very well. I have made a ton of DIVX movies with that combo.

Yes I agree. I use DVD Decryptor to rip movies and then use Pinnacle Instant Copy 7 or 8 (forget current version, probably 12 at this point) to encode and burn back to DVD in shrunk format. You can always stop before that and then convert into DVIX with AutoGK like edrex is saying.
