Sorry to hear about it Boris, i'd have him hammer it out for $40 bucks. it may look better. then try to buff out the scuffs and if there are scratches, try some minor body work?
Yep, FWD is great in snow. But AWD is better

The hammer job will suck. Trust me, I've already had it done once. It looked like ****. Its probably gonna look worse now since its been hammered out once more! I'm gonna go through the insurance. I'm gonna report a hit and run and then show the insurance company (mercury) the police report. Then with the money I'm gonna tell my mechanic to fully fix the panel so it looks 101% stock. But I'm gonna go to a different shop to paint. My mechanic's mexicans are retards. They painted the bumper off color

OMG not another FWD bashing thread....

I think it is funny that americans go on about how they use RWD cos it handles so much better yada yada yada but american cars are like marshmallows to drive and handle **** anyway.

It is ture RWD is better (except in snow) but how many of you guys expoit the handling advantage of your RWD car? probably once in a blue moon!

FWD is easier, lighter, cheaper to service (diff is int he gearbox so only 1 transmission oil change and no propshaft), cheaper to make, more reilable due to lower part count but driveshafts can wear out quicker (easy replacment/fix) and are safer handling due to little chance of oversteer (only during extreme lift off).

For the masses, FWD is the best option so stop bickering and saying 'my car is better than yours'. My car is FWd and dam good fun and i bet it is easier to park and more efficent that a big long rwd saloon.

Boris, a civic type R would spank all over your lexus around the bends (infact so would my pug and any golf GTI around tight twisty lanes) so can we have an end to the RWDvFWD debate? it is boring!

    Yeh, another FWD bashing thead

And umm... I don't really care about american cars. They are ****. I'm talking about imports I hate it when a car feels like a ******* boat. My car isn't toally in the boat category, but a firmer ride wouldn't hurt

Well, we have this canyon that I need to take to get to my friend's house. At the speed limit (25mph) there is practically no difference between FWD and RWD. But when you get to the speed of traffic (40mph) then you start seeing the difference. In FWD cars you feel the need to jerck the wheel right as you enter the bend, otherwise the car goes too near the edge of the road or into oncoming traffic On my car, I can start steering much earlier and the turn comes out much smoother with the car being centered.

The steering is just better in RWD cars because the steering wheels aren't connected to the engine. I noticed a pull to one side on every FWD car I drove. Plus the steering changes in feeling depending on speed.

FWD is better for the people living in snow states who are too poor to afford AWD. I'd argue with you about the parking. You're parking at such speeds that the drivetrain doesn't really matter.

Well, my car doesn't have a LSD yet, so i'd get uneven tire spin which would make me loose time. My car is great after 40mph. It takes a lot of energy to get it going. One of the kids at my school drove me around in his GTi 1.8t, its fast, but I didn't feel safe in it at high speeds. My car actually feels smoother at higher speeds.

first off, dexter...i'm a Mazda guy. (look at my avitar) and i really like protege's and all mazdas car. This corvette is the first non-mazda car that i've owned.

now... scouse, i think you're pretty cool from most of your posts but.... Good God! take that stick out of your *** and relax. there is a difference between ball busting and bashing.

Now since you said that "I think it is funny that Americans go on about how they use RWD cos it handles so much better yada yada yada but American cars are like marshmallows to drive and handle **** anyway." I assume that you are talking to me because i am the big American dope with the big gas gussiling v8. I will tell you this; having driven two worthy representative for American engineering and Japanese engineering at their best, That i would take either one of them any day of the week. Neither car outshines the other. True, I don't exploit the potential of my car because i work so freakin' much and still haven't had the chance to learn the limits of my car (and still am learning how to drive something with gobs of torque). But when life was a little less busy (i had the RX at that time) I used to push it to it's limits every other weekend up in the canyons.

I don't think we were saying that one car was better then the other. I know that any day of the week my big *** saloon could get spanked by a highly modified civic. oh... and i get about 29 mpg on the highway (well i did when it was stock) so how's that for efficient?

as far as your pug (or civic or golf) beating his Lexus in the twisties.... that's like saying that your suv can out tow my corvette...

different strokes for different strokes i guess.

a little background on the two cars i've owned:

1999 Corvette, stock suspension. rebuilt engine: Head/cams package, machined block, forged pistons, long tube headers, high-flow cats, borla exhuast, l/w flywheel, fat *** tires, high perf/lightweight 3-pc rims.

1993 Mazda Rx-7 R1 Twin Turbo- sport springs, upgraded adjustable anti-sway bars, street ported engine, high flow cat, down-pipe (no precat), trust exhaust (not the 'fart can' or apexi n1 exhaust), Reprogrammed ecu, 15 lbs of boost.

I think these two machines are worthy competitors for a import vs. domestic comparison. The rx-7 does handle better, and the vette is faster but stock for stock they aren't very far off.

Scott, i aint talking abotu your corvette, i am talking about these big wallowing saloons we see in movies and the everyday cars that i have seen in america. Liek the things you use for taxis!

I will take the stick out of my *** when boris stops talking ****e and acting as if his car is the best thing ever made! A marority of people will never fully appreciate the handling of there cars and for someone to state that their car is better than someone elses just because it is RWD as opposed to FWD is complete and utter bollox and shows they do not have a clue what theya re talking about!

The knowledge that goes into car design these days is so far ahead of 10 years ago and for 90% (or more) of the population FWD is more practical, safer and cheaper and therefore 'better'!

If i am going to build a sports car then sure it is going to be RWD because of the way they handle but RWD is more dangerous in some peoples hands - i would rather some idiot ****ed it up in a FWD than a RWD one.

and as for the comment about the twisties - absolutely - they were built for different things - i had that in mind when i wrote it but if someone keeps saying their RWD barge of a car is fun to drive they want to try someing nimble - much more enjoyable to drive and at a lot less cost!

yeah of course, never not dude!

a lot of the time you guys take things i say far too seriously but there is always a serious element to what i say. I would not comment if i didnt know what i was on about.

i just get ****ed off when people without all the facts make black and white decisions and will not accept they may be wrong!

I formally invite Boris over to the UK and i will take him out on someof my favourite lanes in a civic type R - i will scare him ****less and he will have so much fun he will kiss the front driveshafts and thank them for the pleasure they have jsut given him!

Wow, LOL, it exploded with replies. Well I guess I'm too "poor" for AWD. I dunno, i figured this board would be exempt from comments like those, we should just be interested in our carputers and such, I really don't wanna come here and hear how my car sucks because its FWD (but I do have an LSD...) and how im too poor to buy AWD. Im not like ****ed or anything, its just kinda disheartening. We all have different cars and why put each other down?
