    Removing glue from dash

Well as most of you know I took the aftermarket dash kit off of my car, which went really well with the exception of screwing up 2 peices which only come to a total of $50 from the volvo dealer.

but now in some places some of the glue from the double sided sticky tape is still stuck the dash

anyone know of anything that will safely take that glue off? I dont want to use something like goo gone or goof off because I know it will ruin the dash. (I tested it on a old piece of dash that I had and it turned it into putty)

    any ideas?

I had the same problem. I used some mineral spirits but still needed to paint it as it was discolored, if your a masochist, you could use this for the motivation to paint your dash.

Bit of a PITA. This was before I had a spare one. I ended up doing it several times trying to get it flawless. I was driving around with my gauges wiretired to the cross support for months and an afghan, covering the mess.

Finallly I said good enough and put it back in.

Maybe dampen it with a sponge and some soapy water, then a hair dryer to heat and loosen it?

Actually, when I first botched my trim kit, I tried peanut butter. I've read this a bunch of places. It worked ok, but not good enough. I will advise against alchohol. The seller told me I should use it to prep my dash. My floor console got dull and soft. I could run my nail through it and leave a mark. It did firm up again but the finish was ruined. Sort of started me down the whole long painting road.

yeah I think I am going to try some soapy water and see if that helps, i'm lucky most of the glue came off, so it's only in a few spots

use some of that orange spray - it is very good for getting glue off. Or just save money and use some citric acid from a couple of oranges! That is all it is. Jsut test it somehwere 1st (see how it dries especially). But 1st try soapy water.
