Yes, but I think that only applies when not driving with the flow of traffic puts other drivers in danger. i.e. when everyone's doing 75 on the interstate, you're putting others at risk by driving 55.

on a small 2 lane road with a handfull of other cars, most judges won't consider you doing the speed limit a threat.

Well, there is a market for some manuals, but not a lot. Used SC300s with 5speeds are rare, and that's why they cost me

Some cars have a starting combination with the clutch pedal (like pressing it 3 times or somethin).

Well, you can hear some cars downshift... no? Well, my cars makes a noise when I downshift (the engine revs up), so its pretty obvious that you did downshift.. but maybe that noise is only inside
Its really ahrd to make an automatic slow down gradually without applyign the brakes. Going into second will make the car look like you've just pressed the brake really hard, and your engine reved up.

I also wish there were more manuals in the US

How could you possibly arrive at this conclusion? Democrats would have the highways lined with pillows. Talk to 0l33l.

What you call "generating revenue," I call "random theft at gun point." Also, "understood speed limits" is actually a euphemism for: the reasonable speed at which people drive despite Big Brother's arbitrary law--without a shred of guilt because they are right.

Perhaps we can base them on some rational standard.

That's an interesting point. But I'll bet when the irresponsible become stains on the highway that'll change.

Were this a "me" oriented society, people would drive with caution, care and efficiency yet unseen. It would be in their best interest. It's only when one assimilates this selfless, anti-man nonsense that permeates our world that one endanger his own life and consequently, other's.

This was how I described it. If you are the only one on the road (or with only a handful of cars) then it would not apply simply because you set the "flow" of the traffic.

However if you are on a two lane road and you are pretty much blocking traffic (by going 20 UNDER the speed limit) you are supposed to be given a ticket as well. I have yet to see this (we live close to a retirement area and there are literally hundreds of people that SHOULD NOT BE DRIVING). A lot of these people are driving AWESOME VEHICLES (vipers, vetts, a few porsche's etc.) and yet they have never pushed these vehicles over 40 (speed limit is 60). Its not only a road hazard but its both annoying and sad at the same time

Automatics can be very convenient. Believe it or not not everyone is a car enthusiast. Lot's of people consider an automobile nothing but more than a means of transportation. There's nothing wrong with either view. But what I'd like to know is how higher manufacturing concern anyone other than the person buying that particular model with that feature? The cost is directly reflected on the final sale price. For the record I drive a manual but wouldn't mind having a automatic at all.
