I fought the law, and the.. law won

Ticket #1, Neglegent Driving of the 2nd degree, $538:

This was for rolling my civic on a dark night. I took it to mitigation court, and the judge deferred the ticket. If I get a moving violation between May 11, 2005 and May 11, 2006, then I have to pay this ticket, and it will go on my record. If I don't, the ticket is dropped. This has motivated me to NEVER drive a car without insurance. I was in court and I was the only person who didn't have a no insurance ticket.

    Ticket #2, Speeding, 34 mph in a 20 mph zone, $177:

Committed. I didn't have much of a defense. I really REALLY wish I had subpeonaed the officer. If you don't have much of a defense, subpeona your officer. You could tell who the professionals were at this hearing, because they were ready to leave. They subpeonaed the officers, none showed up at all, and their tickets were dismissed. They didn't even have to wait two hours like I did.

Well, in most of the times the law wins, especially when you're guilty...

    Know your enemy!

I was driving to my school one day going 45 in a 35 zone. See this motorcycle cop in a driveway. I let off the gas (NEVER PRESS ON THE BRAKES!!!) and the hill slowed me down to 39 when I came in front of him. The guy behind me got pulled over

Boris, if you had a manual you could have just shifted down and eased our the clutch to stop it nosed diving.

You can downshift an automatic too. I do it all the time. Saves gas, and no clutch to damage (torque converter may be a different story ).

indeed ... i've got a court date next month for a speeding ticket. and as much as I'd like to be one of these people who uses the law to get out of paying a ticket, the bottom line is I was speeding, so I should pay the fine.

    it's called personal responsibility.

Cops can indeed be asses ... but in this case it doesn't sound so.

The first one, yes, I deserved. The second one, I really didn't mean to speed. It was a week after the most tragic moment of my life. They had changed the school zone signs around town (The fine print that says "7:30 - 3:30", and used to say "When Children are Present"). I was pacing two other cars. I really didn't mean to speed. Besides, I was in an old, ghetto, automatic Camry. You can't speed in those things.
