    dwowlnbggs.exe??

I have this really annoying pop-up that comes up very sporatically, no matter what site I am @ (That's right, even when I'm here at MP3Car.com). The title of the Pop-up says Aurora. When I do the 3-Finger Solute, I see that it is a file named "dwowlnbggs.exe". I did a search on my computer and came up with 2 files. 1 being "dwowlnbggs.exe" and 2 being "DWOWLNBGGS.EXE-38F07494.pf". The 1st one is in C:\Windows, the 2nd one is in C:\Windows\Prefetch. I've tried running Ad-Aware and Spybot, to no avail. I also tried manually deleteing the file, but for some reason, it comes back when I reboot my computer.

    Any ideas?

    Peace,

    Rafster

Do a search in the registry and delete all the entries corresponding to the name.

Actually, I think it started with a Family Guy episode that I downloaded. This is not the computer that I do my porn on.

I did a search in the Reg. Nothing symbolic came up. Any other ideas? I did a for Aurora Spyware Removal, but it looks kinda freaky to do.

    Any other ideas?

    Peace,

Reboot in safe mode - remove the files that you already know are bad. Go into the registry and delete anything thats set as an autorun (sys and user\software\ms\windows\currentversion\run) that you don't recongnize. Reboot and pray it was that easy :-P

Sounds like you use IE still? Get Opera...or that other one :-P

I actually don't use IE. I haven't used it since WIn98/2000 days. I currently use Firefox. Before that, Netscape. I wish there was a way to completely take IE off. Such a security risk.

I'll try that safemode thing. This thing is getting really annoying!

Ok, here's what's happening. I tried all the ideas you guys posted here, and no go. I did a Norton AV check, and this is what I came up with:

I tried to delete those undeleteable files manually, but no go. Any more ideas?

    Peace,

You could possibly use this little app to delete stuborn files. I DL'ed it a few months back but haven't had a need to use it yet.
