Ok..I'm bored so I'll tell you guys a funny story about my computer applications class last semester.

So here it goes......

I walk into the class knowing its going to be a total joke as I have grown up on comps and could probably teach the the teacher a thing or 2. So first thing I notice is that the instructor can view all the comp screens using a program called NetOp. This was gonna be a problem if I wanted to have any fun in this class. So I get the program, investigate, and figure a way to shut it off. Now I'm home free. Heres were the fun begins:

Usually the door to the classroom is locked (meaning no access to teacher comp), but there was a sub during the second week who not only left the door open, but also left the computer logged on. This is it, my one and only chance, opportunity is knocking. So I quickly devise a plan to use Netmeeting. So I go on the professors comp and setup Netmeeting remote desktop sharing and hide any activity that shows it. Done!

Now I have access to my instructors comp from my comp, let the fun begin!!! So the next day he is working with students on the projector when he is interupted for a second by another professor. I quickly take over his desktop highlight all desktop items and hit enter. His comp opened like three programs and then just froze. He had no idea. It was so hard to stop myself from laughing. Ther rest of the semester was similar but usually less harsh jokes that made the class extremely interesting.

By the way, most of the stuff I did rarly effected the class, just made the teacher think he was crazy. Please don't thrash me for being a bad kid(I'm not), it was good harmless fun.

Netmeeting eh.......that gives me some ideas....

HA...one cool thing was that NetOp allows the teacher not only to see all the comp screens but to control the computers. So I basically had control of every computer in the classroom. I had friends and enemies in the class so every once in a while I would send them a message(ie. I own you biatch!!!) and then I would shutdown their comp.

Only one kid next to me knew what I was doing.

When I was in college taking a Computer Basics class... We also had a substitute because the instructor was at some deal out of town for a week.
Like you, I viewed this class as a mickey-mouse cakewalk, as well as an easy 4.0.

This particular day, we were discussing file naming conventions. Now this was before Win95 and long filenames (unless you had a Mac). It was all 8.3 back then. The bulk of the discussion was common extensions and what they represented.
.TXT = text file.
.EXE = Executable program
.COM = Command
.BAT = Batch file
.BAS = BASIC program
and so on.

So the instructor poses a question to the class:
"Suppose you write a dumb little BASIC program. When you save that program, you give it the name DUMB."
<Writes filename on the blackboard and stands in front of it.>
"What would your file name be?"

OK, I'm chomping at the bit to get at this one. She opened that door and I feel it's my duty as a smart-*** to waltz through it in grandiose fashion. So I'm doing my best Horschak impression, which works.
"Would that be DUMBASS?" (DUMB.BAS - Get it?)

Needless to say, the rest of the class fell over laughing and the substitute turned beet read. At that moment, I'm sure she made a mental note to use another example if she's ever teaching this segment of this course again.
I found out after the fact that this substitute was the regular instructor's sister and I really ****ed her off. I guess she's pretty humorless.

I was kind and wrote an apology note on the back of the final.
Oh, and I still got that easy 4.0.
