Powering, or rather controlling this motor looks a bit difficult, 5 wires, with 2 of the wires connected together. I've searched on google and it seems I need something like single phase controller.
The Go-Kart idea sounds nice!

depends how old it is the 3 extra wires would probably be slow medium and fast for the motor speeds by grounding that wire.
But then again it could need to have a controller like your said.
it's a bit hard to know what to do.
But id make a dodge em car( you can buy one for $500 AUD) that be fun

you could chuck an inverter in the car and use it as a winchnot that thats really useful not like you can put a 4wd or a person out of the mud lol.
The Go-Kart idea could work but the problem is it's got set speed low medium high so its not the best idea.
Maybe you could use it as a pulley for something like a convery belt or something cool in the shed.
