5 seconds of (speed, seatbelts, all sensor information, airbag deployment,etc...) I know this because my friend totaled a 2004 GTO and the insurance company is pulling this stuff out.
Ok my friend just totaled his TC by rolling it after losing control on too hard of a turn on a highway... we need to know if his car has a black box and what kind of data it records
thanks

i think the Scion's / Toyota's use a different brand, but i'm pretty sure they use one. I had this page book marked because it tells me where mine is. Basically they know how fast you were going, how far the Brake was pressed down, and how much throttle you were giving it 5 seconds before the crash. (it loops over itself every 5 seconds, and stops recording upon airbag deployal)
http://www.vetronix.com/diagnostics/cdr/index.htmlQ: What data can be downloaded from the vehicle's air bag module?
A*: Recorded data depends on vehicle make, model and year. The following data is typical of what is found on a newer GM vehicle.
* Vehicle speed (5 seconds before impact)
* Engine speed (5 seconds before impact)
* Brake status (5 seconds before impact)
* Throttle position (5 seconds before impact)
* State of driver's seat belt switch (On/Off)
* Passenger's air bag enabled or disabled state (On/Off)
* SIR Warning Lamp status (On/Off)
* Time from vehicle impact to air bag deployment
* Ignition cycle count at event time
* Ignition cycle count at investigation
* Maximum ΔV for non-deployment event
* ΔV vs. time for frontal air bag deployment event
* Time from vehicle impact to time of maximum ΔV
* Time between non-deploy and deploy event (if within 5 seconds)

what happens if the airbags didnt deploy?

Most likely it will have a blackbox. Doesn't the insurance company have it already? Would be kindo suspicious if they discovered that the tC didn't have a blackbox when it was supposed to have one.
reeeeeead the FAQs i said
Q: Will data only be recorded if the air bags deploy?
A: No, data is recorded in both Deployment and Non-Deployment Events.

How about this, you drill a hole straight through the middle of it, and tell they it was your bad during an install![]()

5 Seconds isn;t very much info really is it, you would have thought they could at least have a decent timeframe.
Well, if you were going 120 into the turn then that's VERY incriminating evidence. Wreckless driving, endangerment, etc...Originally Posted by UK_MP3Car
