You ever see the uncut version where they showed tons of times the cops were wrong? My roommate is a cop and it still ****es me off.
They like to lie their asses off and manipulate people/situations too
I like watching Cops, and I noticed 1 thing. They always twist every scenario and event to prove thier case.
One main thing, is money. I've watched episodes where the guy had small bills on him, cop says, "he has lots of small bills on him which tells us he's dealing"
Amother time, a guy had large bills, $50's, $100's, the cop says the same thing, "as you can see, he has a large stack of $50's and $100's which tells us he is selling high quanitys of dope"
Then another time a guy had like $20's and $10's on him, once again.....same thing, he is selling.
Well then what the hell type of denominations can we carry?!?!? Now granted these guys with the money were drug dealers, that was obvious. But what Im scared of is the people who just smoke it, like twice a week or something. A cop catches them with less than an ounce on them, for some reason, they just went to the mall, they just cashed thier check, etc, they have lots of cash on them, now the cops charge them with dealing as well.
Now I dont do drugs, so i dont have to worry. But I still dont like it how everything is twisted and distorted for prove thier case.

My brother in law is a cop and while I'm not denying they do what you say, you have to sort of see it from their view. Every single day, cops encounter, pursue, or investigate people who break the law. Almost every person they come in contact with, aside from the victims, either is a criminal or has a potential motive to lie, obscure, or cover up the facts to prevent being charged for a crime.
I think that can alter a person's perspective because, let's face it guys, MOST of the people the cops encounter actually HAVE committed a crime.
It's the job of the criminal justice system to prosecute the crimes, which is why cops don't try cases. I'm not a fan of the cops and I think the justice system could be loads better, but I'm also grateful they bust d*ckheads who break in to cars and hold up regular citizens like me.

Overall I am a fan of the police. As Bugbyte pointed out, they have a tough job, and generally have to deal with some pretty scummy people.
But, I have seen them do a few things that I thought were out of order. Often, the type of person that becomes a cop, is the type that wants to feel superior to the rest of society. And they like to demonstrate their ability to have control over you. Almost like a bully.
But then there are some cops that truly just want to make this world a better, safer place to be. More like Sheriff Taylor of Mayberry (The Andy Griffith Show). It just seems that those types are getting fewer and farther between.
I'm sure that the uncut footage of Cops would reveal a lot of stuff that would rile you even more though. And this is when the cops would be trying to be on their best behavior (due to the camera).
Of the stuff that still makes the air, I do see the occasional action by an officer that I don't feel is right. I recall an episode of Cops that I saw recently. They had just busted a house where some crack dealers were selling out of a window. The cops hid in bushes and such, waiting for more users to come and attempt to buy. A cop manned the window, and was selling them chunks of soap (or something). Then the rest of the cops would jump from their hiding spots to bust the buyer. Most of the people they busted made some attempt to run (usually just a step or two). It seemed to be a panic reaction. After a second or so, they would realize that it was several police officers coming at them, and would immediately decide to just give up. But the police would hit them in full stride, and take them down as hard as they could. I could still understand where the cops were using the element of surprise to make sure that the drug addict had little time to think about pulling out a gun, or whatever. But one buyer in particular assessed his situation in a split second, and immediately put his hands high in the air. It was clear that he was not going to resist whatsoever. But the cop (a rather large and muscular one) still came at full tilt. He totally leveled this skinny little crack addict, with extreme predjudice. The cop was obviously using this opportunity to take out some aggression.
Again I want to say that I am generally thankful for what the police do for us, just to make it clear. But I do think that a few of them can get out of line.
Another thing that bothers me about Cops type shows, is John Bunnell. He is that guy that does all the commenting on America's Wildest Police Videos. His comments are always so dramatic, it's comical. And any move that a criminal makes to evade the police is just sheer luck. While every move that the cop make to keep up, is due to superhuman driving skills and advanced training. Here is a short clip of not even the most blatent bit of his dramatic comments. There is contact 3 times between the truck trying to flee, and a cop car. In each case, it was more the cop's fault. But John would say that the driver is intentionally trying to kill the officer.

I saw that cops episode and know exactly which one your talking about. I understand cops needing to be agressive, but there is a fine line between being agressive and using unneccessary force. As when that buy had his hands in the air. Ive even seen times when people get on the ground, lie down, and put their hands behind their back like the cop tells them. The the cop still has to stand above them and litterllay drop all his weight on the back of the suspect with his knee.Originally Posted by eCar™
Another time, where they edited out the crucial part was when they were taking a suspect outta the bushes. They show him walking outta the bushes, then cut to the cops putting him in the car, and the guy is saying, "you let the dog bite me!". The cop was saying, "well you walked to close to him". WTF is that. The guy isnt walking wherever he wants to, he has a cop holding onto his cuffs basically leading him where to walk. Also the guy handling to dog should have moved the dog back. I just found it interesting how they cut out the part where the guy gets bite. Im assuming cause it showed that the cops were at fault.
And dood, me and my mom always make fun of that guy from Americans Wildest Police Videos. He is wayyyy to dramatic. Like one time, the cops had set up a road block on the road, but there was like 12 feet of open shoulder on either side of the road. So when the suspect goes on the shoulder to pass them, dumbass John says, "this cunning suspect somehow finds a kink in the armor". Me and my were like, wtf theres is clearly tons of room.
On that same show, they even had the nerve to edit one chase where the guy actually got away, but they edited it to make it seem like he was caught. Basically he was first pulled over, then decided to run. So what they did was show him being pulled over, then running, then they cut back to when he first got pulled over and tried to make it seem like the cops had caught him. But you could tell by how the cop was non chalantly walking to the vehicle, that it was in fact the time when the guy was first pulled over.
Where can i find these uncut Cops episodes?
edit: just watched the clip. Yah, its clear the cop was moving towards the car initiating the contact. The truck was trying to go around.
I got pulled over once at night. Cop search my glove box. Guess what I had quite afew 50's and 100's sitting in a black wallet.Cop goes, "How much money do you have in your wallet" Me,acouple of 100's and 50's. Cop "why do you have all the money" Me, I dont know is that alot?. Cop,"dont you think you should put it in a bank?" Me, No I dont trust them.
Ah fun times!
see, my point exactly. Who gives a crap how much money you have in your wallet, its a free country. If you said, "i dunno", what was he gonna do? Arrest you? Confiscate the money? I carry a money clip and most of the time, i have no idea how much money I have in it.Originally Posted by Gunmaster

No, but i'd love to live in one where cops dont think everyone they come across is criminal. And like somsone said, cops who are doing the job cause they want to help people and not because they have a superiority complex. Im sure they can make a test that will weed out the superior complex cops.Originally Posted by ATXaccord05
Just like when I was pulled over cause I was "swerving". It was around midnight and I was picking my friend up from work and we were going to his house. Cops pulls me over, says I was swerving, asks me if i had been drinking, interviews me like hes ****in Barbara Walters and Im Bill Clinton, and then lets me go. Well, wtf, if you pulled me over for swerving, then give me a damn ticket for swerving. Dont pull me over for no reason, just to harass me, and make up an excuse for pulling me over.
