    Very Wierd Computer Problem

I've seen hundreds of different computer problems but this one is a first for me...

When I try to start the computer, the fans will spin and that's it, no beeps or picture on the screen. I will turn my computer off and when I turn it back on it's fine, the mobo beeps and the computer boots into windows. If I turn it off and attempt to start it again, the fans will spin but nothing else. So it's like exactly the same way each time, it will work, next time it won't, next it will, and so on... I know it's either the motherboard or CPU.

Has anyone ever had this problem before, and more importantly, have you found the reasoning behind it?

    Things I've tried:

    Replaced power supply
Replaced video card (tried a AGP and PCI card)
    Replaced RAM
Reset BIOS (took out CMOS battery)
    Underclocking CPU

Looks like it needs a new motherboard

I have a friend with the same problem. I think he has an abit or an asus motherboard. Could just be a motherboard bug.

Is your HD set to "Cable Select"? Is your HD connected directly to the MB or a controller card?

I have also heard that some Asus MB's acting exactly what you're experiencing.

Yep I had 2 - one was a refurb motherboard and one was new,
both were asus - the refurb was the same as the new, but the
refurb had a HP bios and did not work - the new one worked for years
but started having trouble coming on - then it died, I swaped
bios from the new one into the refurb - and it worked - till one
day it did the same thing and died - a lot of times its the capacitors
going bad on the motherboard - them small gateway Essential
computers have that problem a lot

    have a look here

You guys are right, it is a Abit mobo. What do y'all think about this mobo as a replacement:

I didn't connect anything to the IDE channels so that isn't a factor.
